Just temper your expectations for 3.0
Wanted to say this.
Some people think of all kinds of crazy stuff for 3.0
But I fear some might quit or be put off if 3.0 is tamer than they wanted.
Last year, we didn't get something too big. Buff to the staffs, daggers and some specials. Plus the legendary heroes stuff with blessings.
Those where the biggest 2 things.
With weapon refinery being the big thing on the update before 2.0
Now we have Aether Raids and Grails as this years 'weapon refinery'.
So expect 3.0 to have one or two fun things, probably for balance, with the new story and the bigger package of refines.
This matches the runtime for feh. It might be something good, but it won't be something that takes a long time to explain, like a fully new gamemodes.
A list of things I feel are possible (but far from guaranteed):
-Beast units (especially if their mechenics aren't complicated)
-ajustments to the summoning pool (demotions or a possible split of the pool)
-updates to skill effects of old useless skills (canto/pass looking at you)
-something involving combat manuals (like single skill rewards)
-update to existing modes.
Blindly pick two of em and you've got your update.
If they won't manage even that, then I'll be dissapointed

Agreed. Right next to the weapon refine update. Honestly, the only other "huge" thing I want is a way to balance the old BST units with newer units. Like a way to boost BST, maybe a consumable. Because in all honesty the game really needs that for older characters like Athena, Virion, Gaius, etc.
