Jailbait Lilina - Defense Team Antimeta Build (Bump)

It's been my dream for a long time to build a Red mage that can surprise counter Reinhardt and Brave Lyn! I've been running numbers for awhile... These showed me that +RES Sanaki and +RES Summer Leo could take on Reinhardt...even before the upgraded seals... But it wasn't until the release of Deflect Magic 3 that Lilina became a viable option. This is important because Sanaki and S!Leo don't have enough defense to tank B!Lyn without Triangle Adept but Lilina can just barely manage it.

The bad news - I was so excited at shocking people out of Reinhardt/B!Lyn complacency that I overlooked the most obvious flaw with my plan. Attack Preview!!! Duh! No one is going to attack Lilina with Reinhardt when the preview shows her killing him. Opps.

In any case, Jailbait Lilina can counter the majority of Reinhardt and Brave Lyn setups - while also being an excellent mage duelist - but she is by no means a hard counter. There are plenty of ways that Reinhardt and Brave Lyn can win the encounter. Since this was a build designed for a defense team the goal wasn't to develop a hard counter but instead a surprise counter that netted a few ragequits while getting people thinking... "Oh! If a Red mage can KO Reinhardt on the bait maybe he isn't the answer to all of life's problems after all."

So what do you think and have you come up with any surprising* antimeta builds?

*I.e. Not TA/Raven on a Green Mage.

Lol, do you think that it would worth too for Sanaki, I don't have any Lilina, but I would like to try it. I think she is +Def/-HP

Yes! When I was theory-crafting this I ran the calculations for +DEF -SPD Sanaki on kagerochart and she can also pull it off with the Deflect Magic 3 seal. She couldn't survive both Reinhardt and Brave Lyn with one build before the Sacred Seal Forge...but now she can take on both. Though, not sure about -HP...that might cause her some trouble... IIRC, for Lilina the margin of error is only 8 HP against +ATK Deathblow QP/Moonbow Reinhardt so that cuts it close.

That's interesting, I might actually try a build like that on mine. What IV did you use?

It's completely untested and not all that surprising, but I've considered trying S!Camilla with Iote's Shield + Gronnwolf as a meta counter on Flier Emblem. Not sure if her res would hold up, though.

This one is +RES -SPD. IIRC, she has a margin of error for surviving +ATK Deathblow QP/Moonbow Reinhardt of about 8HP so that +RES is pretty important. She could run Distant Defense in the A slot as well...but Fury is preferred as it enables her to double most Reinhardts on the counter.

Whoa, that is the exact IV I have on her. What are the chances?

She does well with the standard TA/Raven as well but, of course, is utterly destroyed by Reinhardt once TA is up. If I ever pull +ATK Lilina/Sanaki I'm going to try for a gimmicky ranged Heavy Blade build.
