Is it just me or

Does the first level of the new Armored Helmet accessory look extremely ugly on pretty much every unit? I can’t seem to find an aesthetically pleasing vector for it

I think it's decent on several lance cavaliers, of which the one you're probably most likely to use is L.Ephraim

Bartre is also pretty decent with it

I don't know what you're talking about, my Jeorge looks amazing with it on. Now the other one that you unlock later is a bit color clashing, art wise, but my gf likes it so to each their own really.
