Inheriting a Forgable Weapon

I'm thinking about burning my five star Peri and giving her killer lance+ to someone. Will I be able to forge it to a slaying lance and then further forge that slaying lance after inheritance, or is that something I can only do for Peri? I don't wanna burn my rocks on Peri just to find out I can't give slaying lance to someone else.
