What's the point of this change? Is this something players have been asking for specifically?

I just don't get why it was implemented. Seems arbitrary. I don't follow Reddit or anything so I thought maybe it had been discussed or something.

Not for me. As someone who struggled with giving Kliff a bane as he excels in everything, not having to take a bane is perfect for me. For someone like Surtr who doesn't care about getting his bane in speed it'd mean less.

So if I am understanding what it says. The bane is basically just gone after the first merge and everything else is normal? So on a +10 we have a boon and no bane? So my Kliff can just keep his boon and it's just k now?

Super hyped about that. I have a ton of bad IV +1 units, and quite a few that didn't have excellent fodder where I was also hesitating go merge them though. I guess a +1 merge is an amazing buff now.

I think the units that benefit the least from this are those with dump stats that have been dumped, like -spd Surtr. Whereas units like Robin or benefit greatly I think

This is great. It'll be tougher for 5 star exclusive units, but for the ones I do have merged and for lower rarity units it's great.
