I think we already have an answer to some of the "unanswered" questions about updates to merges

Please read carefully the last sentences in the screenshot. It indicates two points which have been brought up repeatedly:
- Does it affect arena scoring? "The stat raising effect will also come into play during opponent selection in the Arena."
- Will superbanes be completely patched, or will they only receive +3? "Level 40 5* Heroes merged to +10 after the update will have a difference of +3 or +4 compared to before the update." If the +4 is not for a superbane, then when does it occur? So I think we have no reason to think other than that superbanes will be fully restored.

If I understand correctly, it's not our units per se on which they score us. It's how tough they consider our opponents, and the reason BST and SP and level and merge on our units affect it is because the matchmaking system supposedly pits us against opponents of a certain difficulty level depending on whether we choose beginner/intermediate/advanced. So I think it will affect score. As to merging before or after the update, it's not clear to me, but worst case scenario I think we can merge a +10 onto a copy with the desired boon and we'll be good to go.

They said that any merged units will automatically get their stats changed to reflect the update, meaning any merge projects we all currently have will get their flaws removed post update.

At any merge level, the unit loses the penalty of the bane, treating the stat as if it were neutral. However for arena scoring purposes, the bane will likely still be a factor. The only logical explanation as to why this would be the case is because of BST and the fact that boons still exist. Why would they even bother having boons and banes in the first place if they weren't going to be a factor in BST? Might as well do away with banes altogether and have only boons even at zero merges.

I think the new system is amazing, but I'm afraid that now the neutral IV units will be at a huge disadvantage, as I guess they lack 3/4 BST compared to one with a boon that gets its bane patched up...

Report

I bet neutrals will not be random. It will likely follow the same ordering as extra merge stats. Highest to lowest for a lvl 1 unit, with left to right tiebreakers (HP, Atk, Spd, Def, Res)

The example given with Eir supports this theory. It says the third bonus stat will vary by hero, meaning it will always be the same stat for the same character.

I’m excited that some less than ideal IVs I had are now really good. For example, a +Def, -Atk L!Ike and a +Def, -Atk Myrrh
