I made a tier list for the Cheerleader Meta. What are some ways I can improve it?

Leave a comment if you're not sure why I made a placement! I'll gladly do my best to explain why, while also listening to what you have to say.

Yesterday I submitted this(https://www.reddit.com/r/FireEmblemHeroes/comments/9rwf5t/i_made_a_arena_cheerleading_tier_list_its_not/) tier list that attempted to rank units by their supportive capabilities. This is because of the change to the Arena that kills with a bonus unit grant extra points to your score, meaning that optimal scoring requires 4 bonus unit kills and 3 high scoring core units.

My first version, frankly, sucked in a lot of ways. That's okay, I kind of knew that. Thanks to the lovely folks of the feh subreddit, I got a lot of great feedback on how to improve it. I still don't think it's perfect, but I'm feeling pretty satisfied with the top tiers, which are the ones that people care most about, anyway.

The criteria I ranked units by:

1. Access to class-specific skills that benefit the arena team as a whole, through either score or gameplay. (Guidance, Duel Skills, and to a lesser extent, debuff daggers and wary fighter.)

2. Legendary weapons or skills that provide a unique form of support. (Draconic Poleaxe, Recovery Ring)

3. Legendary weapons or skills that provide debuffing potential (Muninn’s Egg, Peshkatz)

4. Chip damaging potential, through these ways:

1. Ability to run wind/watersweep without killing foes (Fir, Spring Sharena)

2. High attack OR outstanding defensive stats with low speed to chip while avoiding doubles. (Michalis, Xander, Walhart)

3. Low-Risk chip damage skills (Pain+ works with Dazzling Staff, while Deathly Dagger doesn’t.)

5. Statline beneficial to running Panic Ploy or Ploy skills. (Bartre, Winter Tharja)

6. Ability to still be a usable unit while still doing the above.

7. To a lesser extent, native access to rare but powerful support skills (Speed Tactic)

Other notes:

1. HP axe units can run both panic ploy and ardent service, while low HP axe units have to choose between Legion’s Axe or Ardent service.

2. Free units are tricky to rank on this list, as they aren’t usually the best picks for an arena core because of their limited merges/no IVs. That being said, some of them (Aversa, Arvis) have the some of most supportive skills available to them and are accessible to everyone, so it would be a disservice to leave them off.

3. Quan and Noire have exclusive access to rally+, and infantry rush, which is why I’ve given them a little bump. Expect Noire and Quan to drop once Rush and Rally+ become more accessible.

4. Hector is still top-tier. You just can’t stop him.

Some big changes from the last tier list:

1. SI criteria have been changed. The only skills that I'm not going to consider as fair SI game are skills that are seasonal locked or are very new. This means that some supportive weapons (Hagoita+) aren't considered. Previously, I was not considering any 5* exclusive skill that had not been given away, like Hone Fliers or Infantry Flash. This change alleviates some overestimation of heroes from the first version (Ex: Legendary Marth).

2. I've added an S- tier and a C+ tier. Units in C+ are units who are still mediocre choices, but are slightly better enough to be separated. The main purpose of C+ tier is to separate fliers and some daggers from the infantry, cavalry, and armor units with poor support options, as daggers and fliers have class-specific skills that are quite useful. (Guidance.) All units in S pack in tons of supportive capability, but some lack the "oomph" that others have.

3. I caught most of my silly mistakes from the first list (Forgetting L!Lyn is a legendary hero or not understanding how Aura works, for example.) I'm sure there are still some up there. Call me out on them, please!

4. I made adjustments for units whose statlines are good for chip damage. The best chip damagers are units who have unbalanced offensive stats. For example, Chrom's 35/26 offensive spread lets him hit hard without doubling and killing units accidentally. On the other hand, Fir's terrible attack but great speed allows her run Windsweep, which prevents her from doubling while also letting her safely initiate on foes. (Units like Ayra or Karla run the risk of killing foes thanks to their statlines/broken skills.)

>Putting Anna in lowest tier when she's one of the few, if not the only, characters who can do this. (Yes it's expensive but it's too good)

I think the majority of this tier list is fine as is, though.

The thing about anna is that you should build her exclusively for getting kills due to her guarantee of being a bonus unit. (unless you want to build an Askr core just cuz you like them, in which case this is a nice build. )

Report

The only tier list where all healers all top tier and all the armor units are bottom tier

I am sorry to say this, but your tier list is pretty bad, unless you are already considering that every duel skill is already available to them.

As I said before, you can't just throw away armored unit down to the hole, because the point of arena is Score.
any supported build armor is going to be better than your corn, titania, marth, as they score about 10 points higher.
so, what is your point making corn S tier, when your bonus kill is only to make your score on par with non bonus kill armored team.
at that point, you can just built a killing machine armored unit, then just forget that bonus kill system altogether, as they are going to score almost the same.

Report

Oh please, did you read my comment ?
you are comparing stuff that already have duel skill, OK they will be placed higher, and I agree, but in your tier list, non duel skill dude like corn/marth/ titania in S tier ? you just defeat the whole purpose of getting score by killing with bonit.

As I said already, unless you are assuming every single duel skills already here to use, then your tier list need to be reworked.
you can't just leave armored unit in C tier, while they all should be in S or S- tier.

Looking at your red alone is pretty bizzare already, S tier cheerleader unit should be YTOlivia,Ryouma,Zelgius,Caeda, and every flier with duel skills, as they all score almost the same. if you consider flier to be more useful, then prf flier in S, then zelgius in S-.

Why is Saias tier S- and Lute is on worse tier when she can debuff 3 stats and have such greater BST than him for Arena? She also can apply her Ploys easier (best BST, more mergues). She also can keep her supportive-pkoy build and still DESTROYING everything.

Report

I assume this is for arena so I say that there are a few big problems with this.

1. You don't consider poke damage or or tank stalling. Buffing is not the only way to help allies get kills on someone. People like Roy, Sigurd, and Selena are very good at weakening a foe and not killing them if they try to. Gordin, Faye, and Leon are also able to do this for archers. There's a difference between Celica attacking a foe for you and Gordin doing it. Though it seems you at least consider splash damage because of how Klein is.

Also why is B!Cordelia so high? She kills everything. Her default weapon is NEVER run, and doesn't do anything new.

2. Ploy boys should be much higher. My Kliff runs Res Ploy, Def Ploy and Chill speed (3 debuffs) and still has the ability to weaken and not kill a lot of the meta if he chooses too. Not everyone can run these debuffs.

Report

The problem with units like Sigurd and Kliff is that they're too good at killing things. It goes against everything that this game should be about, but you never want to run the risk of doubling or having too much atk. Why use Sigurd as a tank when he has no duel skill access and might kill a unit who initiates on him, when someone like Zephiel is almost impossible to KO and will never double? Tanking and chipping potential is almost certainly factored in, that's half of why LHector is S tier.

Cordelia has enough speed to run windsweep and safely proc her seasonal weapon.

Kliff doesn't have the res to reliably run ploys. Typically you're going to need 35 res to proc them 95% of the time.

Report

Sigurd doesn't have to be run to kill anything though and neither does Kliff. Sigurd all he does is have to run his base kit and the majority of the time he won't kill anything. And Kliff has 34 Res and 38 Res with his superboon. Even if you don't want Kliff to run the boon 34 only misses out on about 1 person ever run in arena. And with 30/33 attack on a counter/initiation all you have to do if you don't want Kliff to kill anything is not run Flashing Blade and buffs when attacking and he misses out on killing just about every armor and every dragon.

And if tanking is factored in why would Lukas be at the bottom? Gordin? Faye? Selena? I think they just weren't looked into at all so you placed them at the bottom if anything.

(Also Cordlia's weapon is really weak for supporting. Running Niles seasonal is better at supporting now than it

Report

Kliff gets 34 res with his Fortress def/res skill, which I forgot about with my original reply, sorry. I'll push him up for that. That being said, when B Duel Infantry comes out it'll be better to run that on him arena-wise.

People like Lukas, Faye, etc are ranked lower because of their lack of PRF weapon and/or statline. Helbindi, for example, has a good statline for tanking hits thanks to his mixed defenses and a good prf weapon for buffing allies, while Bartre is a good physical tank whose outstanding HP allows him to run panic ploy, ardent service, and infantry pulse better than any other hero. Lukas/fae and co. lack that sort of oomph that pushes them above.

Report

I agree with most but Archer Hinoka is little low for me:
1) she can give run triple drive attack (+ 9 combat buff, +10/4 if she use goad flyiers) which is huge, especially for brave weapon users.
Only Sanaki (also little low) and B!Lyn (for phisical) can do that.
2) with windsweep she can safly chip armored units.
3) flying reposition is always good.

Also Chershe with panic ploy builded in her weapon is in C+.

But I like your list :)

Report

Kinshi Hinoka is actually supposed to be in A-tier next to F!Takumi, my bad!

Cherche's Axe basically limits her to being an enemy phase wall for your bonus who can chip on the counter-attack, but her defense of 32 isn't as strong as a wall like her wants to be.

Report

I think B!Lucina should be moved up a tier since she’s barely worse than Marth (especially for those who use the Askr trio as bonus units). I agree with pretty much everything other than that. I might have to save this list.
