I am really tempted to build Roy

I rummaged through my barracks again and I realized I found a perfect IV Roy (+Atk -Hp right?). Yeah I know that he may not be as impressive compared to other defensive sword users but talk about high merging potential. Should I do it? I do have Wrath and Atk Smoke fodder here with me.

I know this might hurt your feelings, and I admit his comment is a bit tryhard-y, but my answer is a big fat NO, if you're want an unit that holds it own in arena.
His refinery effect is IMO very powerful, but it gets offset by his bad speed(seriously, it's bad) and low defense.
Roy is suffering from the speed syndrome: a neutral speed Roy gets doubled by almost all the swords units you see in arena (Mia, Ayra, Soleil, even people like Sigurd because of hone buss), and he is unable to double a lot of slower harding hitting units on initiation, e.g. V! Ike.
This is made even worse with his low defense, which SUCKS because Roy takes more physical damage than magical (his def is LOWER than speed), and that means unless you have distant counter, you most likely will be using BB's effect ONCE.
The dragon effective thing ain't bad by any means, but there's Lucina, who has REALLY good stat spreads, and can also slay dragons.
This makes Roy not a very good sword wielder still. I'm sorry man.

That said, if you love Roy as a character, train him. Games are also about having fun, and you're free to do whatever you want :D

Now that Roy is relegated to 3*, merge potential is much more viable, and could help out in long-term play, something that Lucina will be hard-pressed to muster (unless player whales a whole lot).
