Ryoma has pitiful defenses as it is, so you're probably good with life and death and vantage. Combine his weak defenses with the extra 6 HP damage from fury and he folds really fast on enemy phase even with the extra defensive boost from fury. I would personally take the extra offensive boost you get with Life and Death.
