How should I be penalized?

So... my Legendary Banner was a disaster. I wanted at least both Winter Chrom and Winter Robin and was only able to get the former. Instead, I got dupes of Gunnthra, NY Azura and Fjorm. Since I failed in my goal, I feel I should be punished for my incompetence. What shall it be? No summoning except for free summons? Or no video game purchases for three months? It'd be a shame since I was going to pick up BlazBlue on Tuesday.

I think for summoning if it is just repeat of characters like heroes with stance skills then you only use that free summon but if its like new heroes or a legendary hero summoning event or just new heroes in that free summoning you summon everything in that free summon for maybe two months?

If you're bent on torturing yourself, I don't see anybody stopping you, but running really bad is part of this game and, I would say, life itself, since we don't have absolute control over everything that comes our way. Poker professionals know that they can run really bad for months at a time even if their decisions are mathematically, probabilistically sound.

I feel the need to ask where you got the idea that you should be able to control the outcomes of something as unpredictable as summoning? It's not a question of competence; there is such a thing as stuff happening to people that they are powerless to prevent, as unpopular as this idea is in some circles. I personally don't recommend staying too close to such circles; they want men and women to be gods, mortals to be immortal, vulnerability to be invincible; for myself, I don't find that they allow people to be honest to themselves and they thus prevent people from being who and what they were meant to be.

My own recommendation is to write this one down as one of the worst runs in your summoning history, review your summoning strategy, and if you believe that you made the best decisions, allow yourself to frustrate and be sad over it. Afterwards, expect better in future runs. Consider keeping a log of orbs spent and results; you'll see for yourself how variance plays itself out. You might also want to make a plan for if you find yourself running low on orbs in a bad session and need to understand why you stick to your strategy, because this experience is going to mess with your psychology and we need a psychological strategy to stick to our mathematical strategy. The important thing is to stick to a strategy, because just like not everybody in the world will like you if you're real and unashamed, not every summoning run will like you even if you insist on a solid strategy.

I myself am up to 10.5% aching for any of the reds (preferably not another L.Ryoma, but I won't be entirely displeased with one without a bane in an offensive stat)

I couldn't get anything at the legendary banner of 8% lol. Instead I get more 5* from the bridal banner (which is pity broke) , all I want is bridal tharja sigh.

Its not incompetence, this is about RNG. Nothing more , nothing less. Do what you got to do, dude. How much money uou spent trying to get the characters?

While it sounds just that you deserve a punishment for failing, failing in RNG does not count, IMHO. ^^' RNG is not something you can control, hence your competence plays little to no part in it. Spending 100+ orbs in the Lyn legend banner for a FGrima only to get 2 Genny (best IV is neutral) and a Jakob I didn't expect? Been through that ^^'

Seeker has written very sound advice so I suggest you follow what they say, and remember there is nothing bad (besides the orbs ^^') about summoning gone wrong. But one thing: if you lose interest in the game due to the bad summons, stop playing for a bit. Login daily, collect orbs, and take up summoning again when you are ready. I did that too due to college work and totally screwed up summons (aiming for LAHector, got his +res -spd daughter and a superbane -atk LALyn) ^^'
