How many reds can a team take?

And if a colour is used twice in a team which colour can be best exchanged for a grey unit? What are your experiences?
It's more about preferences and statistic reqyurements for team composition to cope with the most frequent threats.
I just have too many red units I'd like to use and I find it even harder to implement the grey units. For example: I have at least 7 red units with prefect iv or who I really favour but I limit my active teams on a maximum of 4 teams which are mostly built around blessings.

Well, two reds are easily usable in the same team.
What matters is that the two of the same color don't have the same role.
So a swordfighter and a red mage.
Or even two swordfighter, a tank and a hyper offence.

What combo do you have in mind?

Units I really use:
- Laevatein (together with L!Lucina for all stats link skills)
- H!Myrrh

Who I really want to use:
- Laegjarn (summoned support)
- Celica (mage but might built her with vengeance and close counter to broaden her role)

Who I want to use but struggle to implement in teams:
-B!Celica
- Joshua (have an ultimate ss built in mind but have not yet decided whom to give that skill)
- Marisa (no perfect built yet but with Joshua among my favourite units)

Other reds who could use more attention:
- B!Tharja (outclassed by Celica but still very good)
- Aversa as soon as available. I like her time and she might be very interesting to use
- Sword Lyn (refined, wrath and brazen)

For greys it's more a general question but units I'd like to put to use: Nina/ B!Lyn, H!Mia, Legault, Veronica and even if I don't really like her but always wanted an offensive healer +Spd Loki.

Well, Marisa at the very least can be very useful in infantry teams with her infantry pulse. You can add panic ploy and have her be an utility sword unit even along other reds, as long as she's got the highest hp.

Joshua might be best off making use of his high res with his base sword. With his close def in the A slot you can make him a bait unit against dragons and maybe even mages. Sure he won't have DC, but you can kill them the turn after. He does great with darting stance in the seal (it's a great seal for mid 30ies speed in general)

Aversa goes well with Laegjarn in a team. Especially if you build a bit on her res. Hp/res 2 is accually a great seal for Aversa

Celica might be better off just using her weapon with fury.
One thing you could do is give her reciprical aid. and pair her with Lyn. That way you can juggle the low hp to the unit who needs it at that moment.

The healers can be easily used in the team that matches their movement type. Though I wouldn't go for 2 reds+colorless.
If your Loki has good hp (use her base A slot skill) you can create two rows of panic with Marisa

Legault is one of my favorite dagger units. If you can get a +spd one with barbed shuriken you can blast foes with specials. Give him fury and desperation, flashing blade seal and luna. If he's below desperation he'll proc luna almost every time on the second attack.

Pfew. Hope you're still awake after all that.

Wow that was detailed. Thanks :) some builds 8 have exactly how you suggested, e.g. Legault. Celica I am fine with her build atm and I like your thoughts on Joshua but I am planing steady breath and CD seal ;)
Averse might really fit to Laegjarn I the end.
Very helpful insights on while to match but i feel lile i still have too many red units haha

I don't know why, but for me this week's AA runs have been plagued with a lot of 3 swords on a team, I get that Alfonse is a bonus unit this season and this is just their arena defense team (I think) so 2 swords or reds is understandable, but 3 is overkill
