I was just thinking, the results of CYL yield several outcomes (as seen by last CYL):
1. New Costumes/Special Editions of winners
2. Increase in popularity of obscure/less popular heroes (like Farfetched, possibly Children of Fate.)
So we only get 7 votes. So, I'm wondering the following:
1. Voting for a semipopular character who is already in the game is a "wasted vote"? If you think they are not going to make it into the top 4 or 6.
2. Characters in multiple titles have their votes split, so obscure/less known characters that appear in multiple games have a smaller chance of topping the charts.
3. FEH meme favorites, like Reinhardt, and Nino are on the rise.
4. If a character is not in the game, we want to shoot for getting them more recognition from IS. Like if we were to meme in Brigand Boss, or the laguz.
5. In the case of the Laguz/Morphers, if they made the top 4, IS would have to give us them. I believe this won't happen, tho.
6. Main characters like Leif already have a guaranteed shot at being in the game, so voting for him is not very useful.
I guess the main question is, do you think people will just vote for their favorite character? Or just vote for someone not in the game? WHAT WILL SWAY THE MASSES? And how will Japan vote?

Wasted votes are, in my opinion, units that are already in the game and are GOOD units, like Hector. It's one thing to vote for a crappy unit to get better, like Lon'Qu, but to vote for a character that already has a good original version is a waste. Again, in my opinion.
Another waste is voting for memes. I can already see the amount of people voting for someone like Oliver because "he's the most beautiful creature ever" or some other asinine reason.
So that means you vote for the character's abilities sake. In a contest of popularity however, I can't see enough people getting behind Lon'qu to improve him. He may just end up near the middle, where nothing happens. :(
Lol, I'm not a fan of meme votes, either. Except Dorcas and Lute was a success. I doubt anyone would be voting for Oliver this time around tho, since he's already in the game, and not popular enough to get a brave outfit.
I voted on Owain because of two reasons. I like him, and he's not in the game, but I wouldn't mind voting on someone else, like Marth, because his character in FEH is not necessarily the greatest (and I do somewhat like him as a character... just a little bit).
Lon'Qu was just an example since his attack is pretty mediocre. Even with all that speed, he's not that great because of his somewhat lackluster attack, so I can see why people would vote for him. I can't, for the life of me, see why people would vote for someone like Chrom when he just got a Christmas version that made him, arguably, into one of the strongest units in the game.
Just seems like such a waste.
Thats cause half the player base havent played the older-gen games so they are going with only those they do know sadly. Since Lyon is coming soon i wont be surprised if a sacred stones banner with new characters are released, for the love of god have Myrrh, Gilliam, Gerik, and Cormag.
I see your point on Leif but I have to say voting for him isn't wasting your vote. Voting for him or any other character from Tharacia will make IS give them too us in greater quantity. Look at the first CYL and see that most of the top 10 made it in the game within three months. The exceptions being Ike who came in May and Michaiah who came in this month. So why Leif will be in the game some time, I will vote for him for 1) I want to see him get a special form, and 2) voting for him and his allies will make IS give them to us sooner or in greater numbers.
I understand and appreciate your desire to have Leif now, but do you think he's popular enough to get a special CYL variant?
I think IS will continue being tricksy, and delay his release regardless of his boost in popularity, like they did with Micaiah. :( Just my opinion, tho. I don't work at IS, so maybe you could be right!
Leif Will came as commoner with 3-4 points by judge... Make a brave Leif to IS make a banner of a medíocre Leif.
Sigurd for example, os something like Brave hero, his tank and versality make him above many others, include with more spd, bows, mages, including Reinhardt.
Voting un someone outside the game will result as mediocre character when its banner games out. Unless, they came with News skills that improve themselves.
I just don't want more special versions of 3DS characters, check how many special heroes are not from Awakening/Fates and tell me I'm overreacting. I know CYL isn't exactly the same, but come on. So voting for characters like Azura and Camilla seems distasteful in my opinion.
I'd like some powercreeped artwork for my man Eliwood, although he's not going to win, so I'll also support characters I like who actually have a chance, like Eirika.
Meme votes are cancerous in my opinion, although I don't know if I'd include Reinhardt (I don't know him) and Nino (I really like her), but certainly Oliver and Wrys.
You see, Hector is good, but with the release of BK and especially Zelgius, i’ve seen a decline of Hector units in arenas. Not saying that they aren’t present (they are), but just that his popularity has gone down with better armored units being released. Or people simply fodder him off for DC.
(1) not really, it also gives IS an idea what people want later ingame.
(2)that depends, sometimes characters are better in later games, look at black knight.
(3)Memes dont always boost a characters chances for top pick otherwise Nino and Reinhardt should already be brave units lol.
(4)same reason why we vote, to tell IS what units we want next, basically like my first answer.
(5)it can happen, but they would have to make each unit a single color, ex. if hector gets brave by being in top 4, they might make him use a blade like his advance class did.
(6)never know, could get him sooner if you do.
By the end of the day, usually the masses win. Doesn't mean you have to follow them, pick your favorite. Who knows they might make it.
From what I’ve seen is just that the lords are gonna dominate, ephraim and hector are the top 2 from what I’ve seem, and I believe celica is leading for women. It’s a shame but unless they’re someone crazy popular like nino or tharja for some reason, side characters don’t stand much of a chance getting top 4. Rip all my votes for Benny
