How does this investment sound?

Below is a picture of how I want to build Corrin in the future, but I'm confused as to why everyone prefers to use Dark Breath+ over Light Breath+ in her windsweep set.

With Light Breath+, you can use a smoke skill in your c slot, such as spd smoke, and basically add a 12 difference in speed between the opponent attacked? The cool down of aether will go down to 4. Then, when the opponent attacks back, they probably will not double and Corrin might, with an extra 12 speed (excluding buffs) and activate aether.

Would this actually work in an arena match though?

That's actually a really cool build--I really like it, and might try it if I get the resources! I don't really see a lot of people play around with Light Breath+ compared to Dark Breath+ or Lightning Breath+ .

I guess the main things that the Dark Breath set has over yours is that the -7 Atk/Spd is inflicted to the unit you attack as well the enemies within 2 spaces (which the Smoke skills don't do) and that the bonuses provided from refined Light Breath+ can Panic Ploy'd because the buffs are visible.

EDIT: Also, Light Breath buffs only last for the turn that you get them, and not until the next action like Dark Breath. (Notice the difference in text when you read both refined weapon descriptions) What this means that if you attack on Player Phase with Light Breath+, the buffs won't carry over to Enemy Phase unless Corrin attacks on Enemy Phase. Similarly, if your unit attacked on Enemy Phase, then the buffs that it gains don't carry over to Player Phase, unless she attacks again on Player Phase. Meanwhile, Dark Breath's effect will persist through the Phases until the unit affected by it makes an action again. However, I still think that there is a lot of potential in the Light Breath+ if used correctly, and I still really like your build!

EDIT 2: Ignore the first edit. :P

Yes they do. I use laser chicken a lot.
Whether you trigger Light Breath in player phase or enemy phase, the buffs always last until the start of the next player phase.

I think by "1 turn" they mean e.g. turn 2. It has turn 2 player phase and then turn 2 enemy phase. The buffs will stay as long as it's turn 2, but go away when turn 3 comes. It's a confusing description though.

Thanks for correcting me, as I was trying to decipher the description myself when I was comparing the two breaths and didn't have the refined Light Breath+ ready for testing. lol

That's true, I didn't realize smoke skills didn't apply to the unit after combat. I guess that does take away some of the effectiveness of this build then. Thanks for telling me!

I do believe that F.Corrin is probably the best user of light breath, maybe barring one of the Kanas. I suspect that it's because we normally need to advance into the enemy that dark breath is preferred to light breath - it's harder for teammates to receive the buff that it is to hit enemies with the debuff unless you advance your teammates first, in which case they will need to function on player phase without the buff.

Well, mine lacks Aether and Steady Breath (mainly due to lack of fodder) and has slightly different stats, but I can tell you a couple of things based on my runs:

- Panic ploy is a big problem, since Corrin's HP isn't the highest and turns Light Breath's bonus against you. That hurts, I tell you. Even more when your allies end in the same position.
- You probably won't need Phantom Speed since most of the units that are faster than you are the kind of units you can tank safely. And you can always use drives if you really want to trigger Windsweep on them, anyways.

As a side note, while my Corrin doesn't get the cooldown reduction, she's actually surprisingly bulky against dragons, which is always nice.

My nowi has something really similar and it works really well!! Corrin will run it even better because she's way faster. I run her on a team with atk/def bond renewal marisa and the light breath buffs on both of them make them pretty unstoppable. They do solid work for me in arena assault.

I would say that dark breath is better suited for a windsweep build because you will typically want to lead with your windsweep unit, moving it away from the rest of your team and toward the enemy team. Under normal conditions it will be rare to hit more than one other friendly unit with light breath when attacking.

I suppose the fact that the buffs from Light Breath affect the user as well means that it's frequently a bit stronger if you're sending Corrin in alone.
