How does goad cavaldy work?

I dont see its buff affects in the pre-combat info where it shows hp. I thought buffs turn stats blue too.

Goad Cavalry actually only takes effect DURING combat. It's not a buff, it's like adding those stats onto the ally units in combat, just like spur skills. So for example on my horse team I gave Camus Goad Cavalry. Whenever another horse unit on my team initiates an attack or when they get attacked, the +4 attack and speed is added onto their base stats. Not sure if that made sense

Yes. And the good thing is that it stacks with buffs and it works on allies within 2 spaces. So if you already have a Hone Cavalry buff on a unit, the Goad Cavalry buff takes effect during combat and stacks onto the Hone Cavalry buff, effectively giving +10 speed and attack

Keep in mind that there's a good argument against goad cavalry in certain Horse Emblem teams. For example, you shouldn't use goads if you want to maximize blade tome efficiency. Source: https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/q-a/best-cavalry-team-members
