How do you feel about 4+10 units?

They're not pretty looking or satisfying like a 5+10 unit, but you will never obviously have most units at 5+10.
So what do we do with units we don't like or we will never promote? The obvious thing is to merge (or send home).

But it is the best thing to do? There isn't much difference in my opinion between a clear 5 star and a 4+10, if not slight, and feeding a 5 star to complete the build doesn't feel so right.
My 4+10 +spd soren with a 49/39 atk/spd doesn't seem much stronger compared to a +spd 5 star soren.

Do you think is best to just send home and get feathers, or basically giving some minor stats more to a 5 star unit? Other opinions?

There is a lot of units that I have the same feeling about, With your 4+ 10 soren, I think that it may be worth to give your 4+10 the weapon from a 5* soren and then it's basically the same. I am kind of in the same boat with my olivia, I have her at 4+4, and I have enough copies to take her to 10, but I keep wondering about will I ever want to take her to 5+10

Depends if you will use them, i have a few 4*+10s but some i dont use. Once you get to the point you can crush Arena Assault not much matters. I also send home lots of units. I have 260k feathers and there is no one im super exited to 5*+10, just collecting units imlike and waiting for new refine options....

A 4★ +10 is better than an unmerged 5★, but obviously a 5★ +10 is better than a 4★ +10.

A 4★ +10 is WAY cheaper than a 5★ +10.

Not to mention things like Arena. If I recall, a 4★ +10 will have more Arena weight than an unmerged 5★.

Don't quote me on that, though.

A 4*+10 is equivalent to a 5*+5 or +4 unit (depending on which unit).

I usually reserve 5*+10's to units that I either like a lot or will use a ton. If they're going to be used as arena assault backups, then 4*+10 works just fine.

While I haven't really done this much, often sending home units instead, I would reccommend sending units home only after having a 4*+10 version of them that you can use. Up to the person and their desires, though.

I never send home my units so i just fodder them for others units, or expand my barracks.
In the long run start a 5*+10 project is best, so i dont waste merge potential in a 4*.

an extra 2 in every stat is quite the difference, also gets a higher arena score and costs way less, you don't get that many feathers from sending them home anyway

I 4*+10 the units that are good, like gwendolyn or something
and 5*+10 the units that I actually like as characters

The response I probably agree with the most.

I know a ton of people want to be efficient, but I feel like there's too many that are losing some of the enjoyment they could have.

FEH with skill inheritance has made it where any unit can really be good, especially with merges. If you like a character, I will always say to 5*+10 that one if you can.

If you don't have any 5 star +10's yet, you should invest in some. Have at least an arena core of all 3 main colors at 5+10 that can handle the meta. Then worry about 4+10's for other game modes and such. It's a big investment, but it can help you stay in tier 20 and help you in beating harder game modes easier, like letting one unit nearly solo a GHB map. Manaketes are great choices for F2P merging.

I have been playing this game heavily since last summer and only have a dragon core at 5*+5 or 6, and no units at 5+10, and a few random units I got as pitybreakers twice as 5+1.

So even though in the long run obviously 5+10 is more optimal, I feel like that long run is soooooooooo long as to be basically not important!

For that reason I love 4+10 units! Especially if the units don’t havs good skill fodder and I probably won’t ever 5+10 them, it seems like a good way to pump them up and get them off the bench.

I have 4 Star merges on:

Gordin
Donnell
Cecilia with Bladetome
Niles
Olivia with Wo Dao
Sophia with Raurraven
Nino
Beruka

It's a lot more convenient...and realistic. 5+10 is a luxury, and you'd only be able to do 1-2 characters without having to pay cash and a ridiculous amount of feathers. For one, you have to really like the character to justify 200k worth spent on things like extra promotions and at least 5 for extra builds (5*-exclusive skills).

I keep asking myself this in terms of ever making a 5+10, but I realise it's kind of pointless unless I'm willing to sit put on months of not letting the rest of my characters grow.

As for 5* vs. 4+10, the latter potentially saves you have the feathers and gives you stronger versions (even if not by a landslide).

Do you plan to 5* +10 this unit within the next year?
If the answer is yes, go for it.
If the answer is no, 4* + 10.

Right now I'm merging up Effie (+5) and Sheena (+6). Once I'm done with them it's gonna be my Dragon's turn.
That's a long time worth of feathers to let 10+ copies of a unit rot in my barracks.

Now, do you have any unit that you play a lot and would get even better by merging it to 4* +10?

To me, that was Cecilia and Reinhardt. I merged them down from 5* to 4* +10 at no cost whatsoever, and they're even better than before for whatever PVE thing I need them for.

Did the same with Titania. I got a 5* pity breaker that I merged down, and she's invaluable in AA with Fury/Lancebreaker.

Now, Soleil is not a unit I'd 4* +10, because I might actually go for it.
She's Arena Core material if I ever get tired of Armor Emblem.

Hope this helps.
