How do I stop being obsessed with IVs?

Everytime I pull a unit that is to my liking, I might be excited, but not happy. Since I can't relate to most of the characters I rank them based off of their art and performance ingame. (Never played an actual FE-game yet. OH GODS HAVE MERCY.)

While I know that most of the units are still useable I just see them rotting in my barracks for a while before I reroll for a completely new account. I would have sticked to my account with my M!Grima but that sadly wasn't possible due to an incident involving a family member. (Such a dick, btw.)

PERFECT TIME TO START!

You can always go play fire emblem, easiest option being a gba emulator for your smartphone with a rom.

In the end it migth be worth not focussing on 5* only characters. Try to find about 2-4 units out the lower pool you like (for gameplay or character) and commit to merging them up.
Once you have something you worked on, a project, it might be easier to commit to that.

And in the end stick with an account brings you a better barracks than switching around.
I got a +6 Sword Rein for example, by pure accident. Just by getting him as off focus unit all the time. But this happened over the course of the months with is release till now.

Simple, accept the fact that everything in all aspects of life is meaningless and all that we do is simply whiling away the time until the sweet release of Death. Once you realise this, IVs don't matter. Somewhat of nihilist view but I'm feeling somewhat down and inline with the view.

The best way is to use one of your eight favorite options (in my case, option #1) for a general/cursory favorite for rare 5*/event units, and leveling up those units on 2x SP days. You'll end up using those characters in multi-team content, and eventually you'll recognize each of those units for how good it is in your barracks, not for how a better of that unit exists.

I'd also avoid using characters with high HM in Tempest Trials - use TT as an opportunity to get HM and SP for that bad IV Ryoma.

It's about learning to love the game for it's characters and not because you want to climb a ladder. The way I see it, you're never really satisfied if you think that way.

When I started, I used to somewhat appreciate characters more. Didn't even know about IVs or anything. But the characters I really liked, I worked around it.

Do it like I do:

1. Take 4 random units in your barracks.
2. If you have more copies of this units then take the one with the worst IV's possible.
3. Build them up and play with them for a month.
4. Go through hell and above against hard contant in-game.
5. Clear that shit and feel like a badass.
6. Wondering why you can still beat contant with those shitty IV units.
7. Coming into conclusion that IV's aren't that important on a unit.

And after that conclusion you're cleansed from the idea that IV's really matter.
I call that the "IV Bootcamp".
I did it like that and it srsly helped.
