How can I guarantee that I will get Large Shield from the Training Tower?

Has anyone figure how to get the Large Shield consistently ? I tried not lost a unit or going against 5 units and I can't figure out the rhyme or reason behind the method.

Only thing I’ve found consistently got me great badges was beating a high level battle (8-10) within 2 rounds with all characters surviving.
If I went past 2 rounds I didn’t always get them. 10th stratum was the most consistent.

I believe it's a random chance (1 out of 2) past the 6th strate. The highest the strate, the more badge you get (5 per strate level, up to 50 at the 10th strate, and half this amount when you get insignias instead).
