Horse Emblem Skills Experience

Hey, I'm sort of uncertain with the specific builds, since there is no complete horse emblem guide on this page and as a f2p I would like to have my decisions backed up by some facts.

My main issue is with skills for both Camus and Xander, because. I want them to be the backbone of the team. I guess the A slot should be Fury for both of them (correct me if I'm wrong), but I was sort of also thinking about TA for Xander.
The B slot is the source of problems for me though, because both QR and vantage have their large advantages. So I would highly appreciate if someone here has experience with one or both of these skills on them.
The C skill is sort of obvious, but I just have to say that I'm not really a fan of goad/ward so I'll be playing with 2x hone/fortify.

I run both Camus and Xander with Fury3+Vantage, but QR would work well, too.

I do not like TA on Xander. I often use Xander's amazing tankiness to occasionally withstand blues, and if I had TA on him, I'd never be able to do that. Also, Xander doesn't need TA to hold his own against greens. And if you're running QR on him, you're just overkilling the greens. You don't need TA.

Thx for the input. I was sort of uncertain of Xander handling green mages (Nino) when I was leveling him up, but I guess he would one-shot her before she could kill him with a follow-up.

I am also a ftp player who mains horse emblem teams. I agree with Fury quick riposte Xander (only when there is someone to heal him like Elise or an ardent sacrifice user), but I use Triangle Adept and quick riposte on Camus since you have Xander to counter EVERY green unit besides boosted gronnblade/gronnwolfe units and Camus with Triangle Adept becomes a complete red counter only getting one-shot by ridiculously strong Raourwolfe users. My recommendation is use quick riposte on both because as Hector should have taught everyone by now, a bulky distant counter unit with quick riposte is devastating against the game's easily manipulated AI, Fury 3 on Xander, and TA 3 on Camus. I don't recommend putting TA on Xander because with fury, he can actually handle weaker lance units quite nicely. As for horse buffs, it depends on how you play and who you like attacking more with. If you want camus to kill everything that isn't holding an axe, give Xander Hone Cavalry, and if you want to play more balanced and defensively, give Hone Cavalry to Camus to patch Xander's speed. A closing recommendation is that you should probably go with 2 goad cavaliers or 2 ward cavaliers because the effects stack from multiple abilities, and like I said earlier, you can choose (assuming you have a choice with the correct SI units) whether you want 2 wards or 2 hones, and either work amazingly well (although since you'll have 2 defensive baiters in Camus and Xander, I would max out defense with ward, and as a bonus I think that it's easier to get 2 warders than 2 goaders because rein is way harder to get than eliwood and you can only get one goad from camus assuming you're using him and giving him hone or fortify cavalry)

Thx for the comprehensive answer. TA on Camus actually makes sense even in the larger context of my hypothetical horse emblem, since Reinhardt who is going to be the third unit will be the magic dmg source and he'll be able to check all res weak opponents and Camus will be the dedicated red killer.

If you plan on running multiple goad/ward remember blade tomes will not get the bonuses towards their attack. This is fine if its a full melee team or you have one blade tome say cecilia who has say ward and she can get hone/fortify and ideally goad off the other 3 cavs

Tl;dr a blade pony needs to have access to hone and fortify at all times...particularly if this is for a tempest team.
