Horse Emblem Freddy

Would Hone, fortify, ward, or goad be best on Frederick?

I personally run a +Atk/-Res Frederick with Fortify. It's worked well for me in the past.

I've always lived by my own motto: "You can never have too much defense!"

If you want to avoid Panic Ploy then Ward/Goad Calvary would be your best bet. Otherwise, Hone/Fortify depending on what your team needs.

Depends on the team around him. Since goad is currently 5* locked on Reinhardt and very limited in availability on Camus, goad isn’t that practical, so that eliminates one.

Hone/fortify are good as long you don’t have to worry about panic ploy, and Frederick should be almost out of range for that to affect him.

Ward is solid if you’re using a horse wall. It can bring Xander to 49/29 before other skills considered (52/32 with fury) when 3 stack, and Ward is readily accessible on Eliwood.

Overall, the decision is yours, but in my general cavalry team I run a hone, fortify, and 2 goads since I use both Camus and Reinhardt.

Personally, I’d recommend using a blue unit in your horse team, and there are several top tier options (Reinhardt and Olwen near the top, Camus leading the pack for lance users). That way you can have the weapon triangle covered, and the last spot can be a utility role played by either Brave Lyn, a healer, or a solid fourth unit.

Fortify probably works best, because he already has FOrtify Def, so it's easier for him to learn.
