I'm torn on which to ultimately use. Currently, I don't have the Shigure I would ultimately be looking for, but he is a bit easier to get. The team is a rather standard team and whichever unit chosen would be more of an offensive red counter to protect Fae. Hinoka, with her prf lance, has a lot more attack and would end up with a bit more speed than Shigure and would make her a better Desperation user, but Shigure keeps getting higher rated, making me doubt my choice, even if he is less effective than Hinoka with Desperation since he needs his special to go off to achieve similar damage, since her attack would be 8 points higher than his.
Obviously I know merging is a factor, but just as a standalone thing, since I probably wouldn't bother with merging for some time, who would ultimately be the better unit? +Spd, -Def Hinoka or +Spd, -Res Shigure.
Am I missing something? Shigure has the 2nd highest speed stat of all lance units, and the highest speed stat of all flying units. Even with Hinoka's Spear boosting her speed, Shigure still comes out on top with 1 more speed than her.
Unless you mean refining her lance for more speed instead of the effect?
Edit: Just checked. Even with a speed-refined Hinoka's Spear, her speed is still less than Shigure's if he also refined his Harmonic Lance for speed. Lol.
I haven't really payed much attention to the ratings on this site, but I don't really know why Shigure is rated higher than her, to be honest. Maybe it's because he's more flexible? He does have the highest speed stat of any flier, so that probably has something to do with it, meanwhile Hinoka has to actually refine her weapon for speed to actually catch up him...?
I honestly can't tell you, I always found ratings to be "not my thing" when it comes to this site and other people's opinions.
Anyway, A +Spd Hinoka with a speed-refined Hinoka's Spear is a better Desperation user than a +Spd Shigure with a speed-refined Harmonic Lance, probably, although his Harmonic Lance does add +10 to Special activations, so you might need to play-test it?
And that 1 speed could make a big difference in doubling. :P
If you want to make sure Shigure's special goes off, give him this flashing blade seal we're about to get or grab a slaying lance. Hinoka can use the seal too, but she's probably going to be a bit slower unless she takes a speed refine (which is sad to me but maybe practical if you're not trying to trick people on arena defense), and no +10 on special activation. I suppose 16 regular damage is about as good against a sword. It might even turn into 18 or 20 due to the way triangle advantage calculates
