Heroes. Collectable? Or Fodder?

This question is purely for the sake of curiosity.
So, Im F2P, and was curious, does everyone like collecting heroes (like pokemon) and have one of each or something, or is everyone more concerned with SI foddering off their units (disregarding their quantity), and sending home all trash tier units (e.g. Colourless hell units comes to mind).

Personally, even if a unit is virtually unusable and has bad skills + stats, I would still keep just one copy of them. (e.g. Lachesis, Maria, Beruka etc.)

What does everyone else do?

I try to keep one copy of each unit, unless I really need them for fodder.

I'm honestly beginning to save units to have them all "POKEMON THEME MUSIC ON THE BACKGROUND"

Except units that have really good skills and are extremely good fodders (B!Ike for example)

Personally, I enjoy collecting one of each unit. As a F2P (mostly) I know I'll never pull every unit but over time you can build a solid collection.

I've played since launch and have 63 5* units. However, none of them have been merged more than +1.

I think every unit has value in the right situation and I have fun training and customizing different units with inherit skill/sacred seals. Also, it's fun to build seven "teams" for Arena Assault.

The drawback is I float between tier 18-19 in Arena. Can't quite make it to tier 20 even with a perfect run. I understand many want to rank as high in the Arena as possible and if that's what motivates you great, sacrifice the units you don't want for skills and spend your feathers to eventually get the +10 Reinhardt of your dreams (LOL). The fun thing about this game is there are many different ways to play.

I've favorited all of my neutral units. Why? I dunno.

The only use for them I've come up with is eventually building a neutral Stahl team of 1, 2, 3, and 4 stars each, but all I need is more free time.

Plus, the only true downside is how all of them take up so much space, and with a lackluster list of potential skill fodder, those units aren't going to be added to a team anytime soon.

I send home bad 5* for feathers... in order to build/merge character I like. So it is a collectable game for me, but a collectible of unit I like... screw the rest. For instance, I have 3 great 4* athena, but I dislike her, so i'll never build her and will use her for her great fodder! Trash tier unit all goes to feathers unless I like them, I'm really merciless, even if I am f2p

I'd like to have one of each hero in my hero book. I don't really care of those I have at one precise moment.

Contrary to pokemon, I don't need to posess them all at the same times.
It makes it easier when the times come to inherit some exclusive skill !

I'm still careful when I need to sacrifice a 5stars for a skill, since I'm free to play. And when I upgrade someone to 5stars just for inheritance purpose, I level them to level 40 before sacrificing them, so that I can have their level 40 quote ;)

You don't have to keep all pokemons on boxes to complete the pokedex so it's the same really... you just don't have to pay to have enough boxes for all in pokemon.

Report

Well, even in pokemon I never filled my pokedex (why would I want something like Garbodor?), so in this game I'm pretty much the same, I like having a wide roster of units I like, but have had no qualms foddering a +spd and +atk Katarina (whom I don't care for) to units I like. Or sending 5* units I hate like Peri straight home. Goes without saying that I always send units without useful SI home, for the feathers to build units I like, like my current GHB projects (basically getting Valter & Arvis to 5*+2, and Ursula to 5*+3).

Report

I've started leveling all 5* to 40 for the Hero Catalog but that's about it. I have no qualms in using them for inheritance after that. I've also never been much of a completionist so I'm not out to "catch 'em all"...not that I could now that I've missed so many limited units.

Report

It really depends on what you enjoy in the game. Some people are completionists and really like having a copy of every hero. Others just want to build the best teams possible for all the ranked game modes. Most fall somewhere in between.

Personally, I don't hesitate to send home units without useful SI potential or if I have lots of copies of the same skill for SI. I do generally try to keep a "library" of SI fodder, which leads me to keep a fairly full barracks at all times. I also keep units that have interesting 4* merge potential for use in Arena Assault. I used to think Oboro was kind of a trash character; but I ended up building a merge after she was usable in some quests a while back. Now, I think she's a great physical duelist and usually run her at some point in Arena Assault.

I generally won't send any 5* character home. The 1,000 feathers just isn't worth it for me.
