Hero merit farming

So i know this is a controversial topic but I thought I'd ask anyway.
How do you guys go about HM farming ?
I've been playing since day 1 and only have 7 heroes maxed out (mostly due to my own fault because I use the same heroes more often than I should instead of switching).
But I see people with almost fully farmed HM barracks which sounds good to me.
I know about the auto clicking emulating stuff but is this the only reason?
I know GHBs are great for HM farm but I do not have hours to grind them all day long. Do people just "bot" them ? Is that what I'm missing?

Omega HM farming in rival domains. I just seriously started around 3 weeks ago and manually farmed around 300k feathers mostly on my commute or during lunch. It's from my point the most effective as you get 40HM each time (I use the 2 turn auto battle solution). I know Nilla loves the Navarre GHB due to 1 turn but since I maxed Ike it only gives 15HM each time

The problem with grinding rival domains is that more often than not you need very specifically built units to grind them effectively, and after that run, that unit may or may not be useful int hat same sense again. I used to grind rival domains heavily, but once it got to the point where I had no uncapped untis to play the backup roles with wings of mercy and being ranged, its stopped being a worthwhile endeavor.

I use Frep.

Yes its completely automated once you set it up right.

Some days are better to farm than other,s liek today is Navarres day, which is the best day because with the right setup, youre making 15 merit per 10 seconds.

I maxed out a few of them just from using them or from Tempest Trials, but with Rival Domains Farming you can get it done really fast. Even when you do it manually (which I do) you can grind pretty fast. Most of the setups just require a flier or a horse with a dancer and Wings of Mercy, there are guides on Youtube for every week.
I just grind it while watching Netflix or something, it doesn't require a lot of attention.

Did I miss something? Since when was HM farming controversial? I know some people (including myself) don't like doing it but I've never heard of anyone giving others flak for it.
