Help with my Fae refining conundrum?

So, I'm a weird person who likes to use Fae as a physical tank, as well as a magical one. Mine is +def -hp, merged +1, and has Lightning Breath+, Fury, Renewal, Threaten Attack, and Iceberg. Her stat spread (without a seal) is currently 44/47/31/32/34. With a Fortify Dragons from Ninian, her defensive stats reach 38/40, which is frankly ridiculous. My question is, which Lightning Breath refinement does she want more, defense or resistance?

Resistance would make her practically impervious to mages and bring up her Iceberg damage, but her res is already amazing, and I feel like defense would help her against more enemies, and the urge to use her as green!Nowi is strong. I was leaning toward defense, but then I realized I could also buff her res and just give her the Close Defense seal, although that would kind of lock her into that seal for me, which means she and her 49 HP (after refinement) couldn't run Panic Ploy. I'm really torn, does anyone have any insight for me?

I am no expert but I agree with your build. I don't understand why running Renewal is not more common.

Have you considered using Ignis instead of Iceberg? I am considering this along with reciprocal aid. Makes her a tank/medic.

If I had Steady Breath and 20k feathers to promote a Chrom, I totally would. Without Steady Breath though, the 6-turn cooldown on Aether doesn't really seem worth it to me. :(

Ah I see. I had a bad IV BIke and used Steady Breath on Nowi.

It will be interesting to see how Nowi and Fae work in the arena together.

Yeah, the carnage would be pretty incredible. I don't even remember what my Nowi's IVs are, I should check and see if they're viable lol.

Totally agree about Renewal. Lots of people love to run QR on Fae, and while I love QR in general, I think it has terrible synergy with Fury and refuse to run them together, plus Renewal really helps her out in PvE battles.

Why run Fury on Fae anyway? She'd definitely be better off with Close/Distant Def or even TA tbh. I never really understood why anyone would want their tank to take chip damage.

Even if you could potentially heal it back, she might not even live that long due to the chip damage.

Honestly, Fae was one of the first 5* units I ever pulled, and I put Fury on her way back in the day because she needed an A slot and it seemed like a good idea with Renewal, which she comes with. In practice, though, it's actually worked pretty well, the benefits of +3 to all stats outweigh the chip damage for me. If I ever give her QR, which I might someday do, I'll swap Fury for something else, but Close/Distant Def fodder isn't terribly easy to come by, and honestly with the upgrade to Lightning Breath making it able to attack either defensive stat and Fae's own defenses already being pretty great, TA seems like it's just going to hamper her these days.

Renewal take too long to refuel the HP you potentially tanked,and its worse if fae didn't killed back the attacker,ofc if she is meant to only kill Reinhardt,sure,but I'd rather have a Fae that can kill more than just a Reinhardt,especially if you are hard pressured by a cavalry team..

Fae's not terribly fast and gets doubled a lot, +3 to def/res when you get doubled cancels out the HP loss anyway.

I'm running a +spd/-HP Fae myself, but I have the Faes in backup to make her +10 once I get the feathers, which I intend to do. I'm personally using her Light Breath, to make her a buffer, and I'm refining her breath for Def. Her final stats when it's all done are(After Fury)

Spd 38
Def 36
Res 37

I'm running her with Light Breath, Repo, Iceberg, Fury, QR3(She can actually keep it going a while) Panic Ploy, and the seal is yet to be decided, but I'm leaning towards Spur Atk to help her allies or HP+ to help her Panic Ploy and QR even more.

Yours can run just as well, as refining a +def Fae with a Spd breath yields the same outcome as a +spd Fae with a Def breath. In your case, Panic ploy isn't as reliable. I personally forego Renewal because she's set up for my Arena team, and in most cases, Arena matches don't last long enough for Renewal to be of much use.

I just put Light Breath+4 Res on my Fae. Decided to run Iceberg. And yes I am running Fury as well. I would put Steady Breath on but dont have it. Not sure of any alternatives.

Was fun to run her in arena and take out a Brave Ike just now.

I would bet that arena scores will drop significantly next week. I have had my old team taken out multiple times single highhandedly by Tiki and Fae.
