Hector skill C (non-Armor team)

Hi everyone

I'm (FINALLY) the happy owner of the Ostian General since this afternoon, and thanks to the Tempest Trials I've already built him a lot.

I plan on using him almost everywhere, GHB battles, Arena for points obviously, etc. He is +Def -Res, and I'm already giving him the Summoner Support, and the new Distant Def Seal to kinda mitigate the -Res bane (looking at you Reinhardt).

And to round it all, I would very much like giving him Panic Ploy in C skill, using nicely his huge HP stat. But yeah, that means killing a 5* Valter for him. Still, I really see a huge potential in Panic Ploy on him, even if it is not listed on this website.

So what do you think ? Should I go for it or stick to a more standard Threaten Def ? (I don't have a 4* Peri any more tho, that's sad)

Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

Panic Ploy will be very much worth it should you end up dealing with Cavalry teams, enemy armor teams, or buff reliant flier teams. It fucks up teams with an Eirika buffing them up as well and Hector is likely the second best Panic Ploy user in the game after Zephiel (the only one hector cant ploy really)

It's a decent setup, just feed him Vantage and my special of choice is Sol.

Vantage is already here yup. But Vantage + Sol seem a bit weird to me, if I plan to keep him high HP I guess Renewal might be a better choice. I'm trying first the "classic" Vantage + Bonfire anyway for the moment

Thats actually a pretty good idea, especially if you are planning to use him as your Reinhardt counter. Some say it's hard to position Armors properly to use it, but I don't think its a big deal, especially with the ability to swap spaces the first turn anyways.

It will probably not be THE Reinhardt counter but yeah being able to bait/kill him occasionaly by reversing the Hone Atk or Cavalry boosts is an idea I like. There are a lot of buffs nowadays...

Panic Ploy seems like a good pick on him. In the meantime, I suggest a Threaten skill, as they do work well on him given his movement, and he doesn't often keep formation with his allies on non-armor emblem for spur/hone skills, so he's best built as a standalone unit in a mixed movement team. I personally run Threaten Atk with the same boon as yours (but a spd bane), as he's mainly an enemy phase bait unit, not one who initiates combat. Since this game doesn't have a Str/Mag split like most of the main games, Threaten Atk both debuffs physical attackers so that he can tank them effortlessly, while adding more neutral/weaker red magical attackers to his kill list.

I think Threaten Def is a bit overrated on him, as with a non-attack bane and something like Bonfire/Armads/Vantage, it's rare for him not to be able to 2RKO at the very worst.
