Heavy Blade vs Fury Ike

Hey guys, quick question. I have a +Atk/-Def Ike that I’ve been sleeping on for quite some time due to his competition with the other reds, but I’m finally ready to fully invest in him and I’m wondering which build you guys prefer and which one I should use.

In short, One Punch Vantage or Bulky/Sustainable Heavy Blade?

I know it’s down to my playstyle and preference and I will eventually do both but I just want to hear some of your experiences and opinions (don’t actually need advice, but it’s still welcome).

Note that all the skills will be maxed out and Arena scoring is not a factor.

I went with the second option. My Ike is +hp, -spd so the QR really helped. I also use Ike mostly in TT for a good green tank who can sustain himself without needing a healer often. He's also nice in chain challenges, but his mediocre speed and fury recoil would mean having to bring a healer.

Green killer? Or Red tank?

Yeah I agree, Heavy Blade!QR + Aether is a fantastic set for sustain modes and for Arena weighting, that’s definitely the set I plan to use for those.
I was just wondering if Fury is more optimal as a killer or for Arena because he gains a really nice stat spread to help him get into Vantage range and then starts one shotting with 60+ attack, but I’m not sure if it’s very realistic because he’ll definitely die if he misses the KO with Fury!Vantage.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback mate, greatly appreciate it!

If you’re goin SS than I would definitely use heavy blade, when I used Ike (+spd -res) heavy blade triggered very often, and aether can give him enough survivability for you to throw him into a crowd of enemies and kill em all.
I used vantage over QR tho because he doesn’t get doubled that often, and it helps him fight mages you know?

Thanks, that’s good advice, know that I think about it he definitely benefits more from SS when he’s running the Heavy Blade set.

If Heavy Blade procs that frequently I might actually consider running Speed +3 on him just to help mine avoid some doubles. It also puts me at rest about running Distant Defence instead of Attack +3 for that set.

I also really appreciate the tip about Vantage, even if mine isn’t -Res mages still hurt, that I know personally. I could also switch to a 3 turn CD special for Arena Defence and he could catch a lot of people off guard, so cheers for that tip.

And yeah, I’ll probably stick with Threaten Defence. I might switch to Threaten Attack for TTs where they have inflated stats, but we’ll see. Thanks mate, that was very helpful!

Normally I always feel Fury + Vantage Ike is just a waste of Heavy Blade and an inferior Ryoma, but with +Atk IV it just may have enough punch to OHKO more foes.

I'd try out the Fury Vantage since it only uses 4* first and keep it if you like it a lot.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking as well, even though Ryoma only has 1 less attack, I find that it’s easier for Ike to invest in attack and Ryoma to invest in speed, and that’s the main reason I’m considering Fury!Vantage for mine.

The only problem is that I’ve only gotten 3 Hinatas over a period of 9+ months so it’s not really a budget set for me at all, but I really want to finish building him fully for both sets and that’s why I’m having a hard time deciding which one I should build first and use.

I actually prefer Ike with Steady Breath from his green counterpart. With all the powercreep, I think it's a little more useful, especially since neither Ike is particularly speedy.
