Have we figured out why peoples fortresses didn't decrease at the start of the new season?

So like some other people mentioned on here before, when I logged in at the start of the new season I already had a loss which brought me down a tier but my fort was still level 2. Does it only get demoted at the end of a season if you've dropped from the previous season? or is it just immune from being demoted on the first day? I was very confused and I didn't see anyone give an answer on here.

I'm sorry, I don't know if I understand the question. Are we talking about the Offensive and/or Defensive Fortress? They gain +1 level when using bonus structures, since when does the level decrease?

I fixed the question to make sense. I left out a word. So no what I meant is that at the start of a new season you're lowered to the lowest score for that tier which for me was 4400 (tier 12). Then when I logged in in the morning I already had a loss which brought me down to 4340 (tier 11) but my fortress was still at level 2. It didn't go down a level like the description says it should when being demoted to a lower tier.

Maybe you have to end the season in a lower tier than last season, I don't know.

And/or maybe the level decrese is symbolic like the +1 from bonus structures and can only be seen in battle.

I was wondering about this too. I think the demotion will only happen if we end up in a lower tier at the end of the season, so those who did not play at all during the season can't just sandbag and mantain their tier (that's why I asume we get dropped to our tier initial score at the start of a season, so a single def loss will demote those who sandbag/went inactive).

Otherwise, like you mentioned, if demotions happened during the season, it would force players to play asap on reset to prevent losing the tier and level right away, or be quite aware when playing their daily runs to avoid getting demoted by a loss next day. That would be bad.

Many players would be helpless at the beginning of a season and it wouldn't be fair.

I still want to know what that blurb about getting demoted really means.

I agree, that's why I think demotions will only happen if your tier decreases after a season. We now know, thanks to OP, that fortress isn't demoted during the season. We need confirmation if it will happen after a season ends.
