Has Hector powercrept Hardin?

In my eyes, no. While Hector has that extra boost of Attack/Def+4 from his A skill, Hardin is still king in my eyes. It’s just as the character page said before: EVERY single one of Hardin’s skill are usable. Even his speed, which is actually pretty good for an armor with the stat spread he has and it effectively prevents doubles, while Hector’s is an immediate throwaway stat. Hector’s lance, if I am correct, allows quads with Bold Fighter above 50% health, which is insanely good, but it’s limited health wise. Hardin seems to have the higher resistance as well. Both units also come with Bold Fighter. So all in all, it comes down to preference seeing as Hardin and Hector are effectively the most broken lance units in the whole game...

I mean, time will tell. I'm not jumping into the powercreep bandwagon. Hardin is a boss. His multi-phase set-up is nigh unstoppable. Hector looks amazing, too, so we'll see how the arena moves forward. I don't think it'll swing too much.

Exactly! Both units are INSANELY good. Out of the the CYL units, Hector and Celica are the most powerful IMO. Celica works really well as a buffer with her C skill and with a healer she quads ALOT. Veronica leaves some to be desired but she is a powerful staff. Ephraim has INSANE attack and defense but the rest of his stats are meh and he only works really good with buffs.

Precisely.
Hector already has a comp in Hardin, so the Meta won't change based on that.
Celica is great, but she isnt heads and shoulders above Karla or Ayra.
Mage ponies aren't exactly in the current meta, so while Veronia is cool, she isnt game changing.
And Ephraim is a boss, but so are 8 other armor units.

I remember all the complaints last year with CYL1 regarding powercreep. Of those 4 units, 1 is still top tier, 2 are niche and 1 is mostly used as fodder (even though he's a great unit). Gotta temper the flames a little here.

Yes and no. Hardin is more defensive while Hector is more offensive. Plus, Hardin has Distant Counter built in to his weapon so his A-slot is free (such as for Brazen DEF/RES, something he already comes with, that boosts his already fantastic mixed defenses), while Hector is stuck with Ostian Counter if he wants to maximize his attacking availability. Hector is better by a margin or two, but Hardin is still perfectly serviceable.

I kinda wish Hector had a built in distant counter weapon finally. He would become amazing if he did and Hardin would have competition, but for now, Hector’s lack of an A skill slot skill can hurt him because he can’t run a breath skill or other great skills...

I still think Hardin is more annoying if he does the Vengeful Fighter set because he has higher Res. And I don't think Hector Quads if I read it right. He doubles on enemy phase with weapon and doubles on player phase with Bold Fighter. So maybe with VF he quads?

Report

Maltet's effect is Quick Riposte 5, like Roy's refine. The QR effect acts like a double and not a brave effect. Similarly, Vengeful Fighter acts like a double and not a brave effect, and as such, does not combo well with Maltet, aside from the fact that VF provides cooldown acceleration, which Maltet does not. Hector can only quad with a Brave weapon just like any other Armor.

Well, I don't have Hardin, so Brave Hector is the best alternative. Lucky I managed to get two copies of him (and I didn't even redeem my free unit yet).
