Has the AI become even more stupid?
I know, stupid Auto-Battle AI sounds familiar but I do not recall him to be that stupid.
During the last TT runs I always had to play by myself. The AI always killed my team on the second toughest Difficulty. And it is easily abled to rock that. It only consists of tanks, who can really take a hit. The enemies on those maps need like three rounds to kill my units in TA advantage and/or weapon effectiveness.
What does the AI do?
If possible, heroes move towards enemies with effective weapons or Triangle advantage.
If two heroes can attack an enemy, it will always be the one who delivers worse results (either die in combat, deal less/suffer more damage, or not kill the enemy).
The AI always leaves formations for buffs. Even with Reposition, it only uses Reposition if the heroes do not support each other by movement type.
And all the classics, like ultra-offensive healers, senseless spreading over the whole map and so on.
Last round my Sigurd died on the first map, because he had to choose to attack either Sakura or Abel. Hector attacked Sakura (no kill, too slow), Sigurd attacked Abel. He even defeated Abel, but afterwards he ran into Oscar and Clarine was right behind Hector, although he constantly kept full HP (yeah, classic, she attacked instead of healing).
I honestly don't recall that from past trials. Is IS trolling us, or is my AI just especially stupid? (This is a realistic option, my summons are insanely bad too, maybe I simply have bad luck currently.) Could also be a sign of RNGesus for me to stop playing this game once and for all. Although I'm stubborn enough to ignore that.

I don't think the AI has gotten more stupid or anything (it is tho), I think that the terrain of the maps might be heavily influencing the AI's decisions though.
You can't use normal formation reliant teams with AI and expect it to go well unless you manipulate it quite a lot with unit placement and skills and yadda yadda. It's best to use a team of self-sufficient units if you're going to rely on AI

The trials seem to be getting easier and the players are getting stronger, with more and more buffs or better builds. In previous trials, you could run in to random enemies with panic ploy A LOT, while now it seems that only the characters that learn it by default (Luke and wheredidIputmyweaponZelgius) pack it. They tunned down the absurd stats in the last runs, so all in all it's much, much easier. I wouldn't say that the AI is more stupid, but instead that it's pretty much the same as before, while the game is getting more complex. To be honest, I think it's ok. Imagine how hard the arena would become with a better AI and dancers.

If you're going auto-battle in TT, I'd slap on Noontime and Renewal on a bulky unit and they're good to go. Never go TA because that's just asking for disadvantage match-ups. Also never run positional skills. If anything, AI does better with buff skills. For C slot, you can just run drive skills or hone/fortify skills. Very seldom will the AI fight adjacent to an ally because they're aggro so spurs aren't as good but they usually end up together or start together so they will at least benefit from hone/fortify. For seals, just use them as you see fit but keep aggro in mind so QR may not be as good as close/dist def or heavy blade.

My usual team+two bonuses is fairing decently well. They still wipe on the final map a scary amount. But that is because that map is set up so that if you rush in stupidly(like the AI does) you are apt to pay in blood.
But yeah I have sworn for a long time that the enemy AI is far more intelligent than our Auto-Battle AI. More than likely it is just that we get to move first, but still.
