Grand Conquest

Does anyone else find it underwhelming or rather uninteresting to play? Like maybe it's the maps that are the issue that I don't like. But when I go into a map and go "oh look at all this anti-cav movement tiles I can't predict when preparing a team and I have like 4 cavs" it's just like well guess I can either simply focus more on defending and get a lower score or I'm forced to let units die but that still wastes turns. It probably doesn't help that I'm in a mood to play FE4 and GC certainly hasn't seemed that fun to me to make me want to play it more over playing 4, where I can also use broken Lachesis unlike her Heroes counterpart sadly.

You can absolutely check the map before you go into the battle. So you shouldn't be surprised.

Well I'm just dumb and forget that part. But with Rival Domains unit size I feel that still brings a different issue for me, too much extra to prepare for, and without the no stamina cost. Plus the enemy respawn being random can either range from non-issue to just ruining any plans, like Grima showed up and I have nothing that can kill him without losing a unit or 2.

Report

I'm having much MUCH fun with this mode.

For what i seen, the maps are always the same, the Area 1 have map x, Area 2 have map y, etc.
They never change, so you can avoid the maps that are bad for your cavalry or use a different team with less horses.

AAAAAAND if this doens't help you can try lower the difficulty, you get less points, but you will not have much stress too.

I went down to level 35, it's okay. But still hasn't been that interesting for me at least not like GHBs have been with the new 0 stamina. Still 4 more days until I can finally have Camus though. I want to try building him once I can finally get him.

I personnaly find GC and rival domain just boring and stupid...
This is not strategie when the ennemy respawn infinitively and you don't know what will respawn...
We are leagues away of FE4 gameplay... Just the thing of ennemy respawn is stupidly boring.
Doing a 20v20 with all unit present at same time in a bigger map would be better
This is just a festival for thoses who have a lot of +10 units.

Eh, I dunno. Everyone else seemed to enjoy Rival Domains while I can't really seem to enjoy it. It's not that it's bad or anything, but it's really not fun for me. It's just a giant mess full of units and it makes it look really cluttered and messy, and the constant "reinforcements" makes it even more of a cluttered mess.

The moment I heard the new game mode would have the same mechanics as Rival Domains, my excitement dropped exponentially because I just can't enjoy the mode.

Oh well, at least other people enjoy it, I guess.

Report

Me before the mode begins: Ooh, sounds like a fun mode!

Me while partaking in the mode: ...I'd rather be cursed with useless 3* summons than deal with this.

I had REALLY bad matchups that kinda soured my perception of this new mode. Rival Domains is fine, but this isn't fun at all.

My biggest gripe with it is that some of your foes are around +10 merges, so it's going to be extremely difficult to do well in the round if you're F2P or don't have many high merges, not to mention that some of the maps are so tedious to do and sometimes outright impossible to even reach the camps, let alone the fortress.

This also applies to the Rival Domains mode, but I do wish they tone down the warping on it. It's so annoying to finally reach a camp and about to take it, when all of a sudden every single enemy warps to the camp and takes out your already weakened units whilst trying to take the other camp, or trying to flank around to the fortress.

I wouldn't have minded if they placed the reinforcements at the camps as well as the fortress, that makes sense from a tactical standpoint, but all the warping makes it impossible to predict where the AI will go and who they'll target.

I just auto the battles on infernal and get around 800-900 points each time. Though I can admit it's kinda challenging to face +10 merged Hardins but otherwise I've been fine with the battles even as a F2P

Report

I hate how fast they respawn. They just keep coming and with the teleport mechanic as soon as you lose a unit it's pretty much over. So annoying

Report

I haven't really put time into this mode yet but the battle I did was ok, not too frustrating and didn't take that long so I guess I'll stick to the lower difficulties. Judging from other comments the higher "challenge" is strictly for masochists with lots of time on their hands! ;)

Report

It's not for masochists, if you have strong units/allies you can fight on the higher difficulties.

Most of those that are hating the challenge, must change the difficulty, it's a game you must find the FUN in what you're doing, hit your head against a wall and expect difference results its not smart.

Report

I agree that infernal is not easy to beat by destroying their main fortress. The map just makes it very hard for offensive units to move in(especially if half of your team are horses), there are trees on crucial points on the map and the way the map is setup favors the defensive side.

The whole mode is similar to the Voting Gauntlet where it becomes very tedious and isn't what I expected to appear when we voted to fight with teammates on the survey. Disappointing.
Still, I grind the infernal mode just for the rewards.
