Good close counter users?

Tried getting another olivia today and ended my pity rate with a -HP/+res Takumi. Already have a +spd Taco meat and wonder if there are any units who can make really good use of close counter?

I have a Close counter Horse emblem Leo which has been fun and has served me well.
Considering foddering off another CC to someone who can make use of it as well.

what units do you recommend? Any specific sets?
(ps i hate merric, pls dont recommend merric)

BOEY. With Gronnraven + QR and Bonfire. He is a superb physical wall. Not to mention his sweet art. You can add Panic Ploy into mix too

I agree for Boey, I'm still waiting a takumi to feed close counter to boey.

On the other hand, I disagree with your build.
Gronnraven and close counter isn't really the best. Gronnraven is usually nice with TA (or Earth boost in some very specific builds) and is an amazing build to counter ranged units. Gronnraven + TA allows boey to desotry rein and archers which is great. But without TA, Boey have a much harder time doing this role. He will get a harder time dealing with blue mages and even if he will still do okay against archers due to his high def, he will probably not kill them because of his not so good spd.

For the Close counter build, I would recommand you keep his Owl tome as it allows him to do this job much better : Bait and kill melee units.
Even with just 2 units next to Boey it gives him a +4 in every stats. It's very important for his DEF as a neutral def boey will reach 36 def with 2 allies next to him, allowing to tank melee units way better.
For B I would say QR is nice and Bonfire as a special is where he gets his damages.

I really think CC is better than TA due to him being an enemy phase unit. Boey as a mage can't make great use of TA when attacking because he is slow, also he barely tanks Reinhardt and Linde, Corrin etc. EVEN with TA (he sometimes can't tank them due to merge difference or having himself damaged from another fight or build differences). So instead of trying hard to do the thing he can't, you simply accept and use him as a Physical Wall. Gronnraven provides the damage to kill colorless and QR + Bonfire makes sure he kills them and CC means no lancer lives the exchange. Same goes for a lot of Axe Wielders simply because Boey tanks like a BOSS and hits with Magic and Axers have lower Res than Def. For the Owl Tome, i don't like the idea of having units near him. Firstly, the other units have jobs other than buffing Boi. Second, the world we live in doesn't allow such a formation as generally if Reinhardt or Brave Lyn can target your Boey, then they possibly can target your adjacent units too.
That's my thought on this. But it always depends on preference as this is just a game.

Owl Tome users, Boey especially, with Robin (M) coming in second, are fantastic users of CC. However, Owl Tomes generally like being ran with good team support and mainly as a tank for mage teams.

Leon would also be a good candidate due to his defence and innate Slaying Bow, but I don’t know how good he is with it.
And as Nork mentioned, Boey would be in a similar situation to Leon with Gronraven as well due to how high his defence is for a ranged unit. However, CC would be useless against colourless.

Those are the ones I have off the top of my head.

Edit: Oh, and of course Blade Tome Cecilia, with CC and Vantage, she’ll be a monster. It’s great on her because CC won’t impact her match-ups compared to using another A-Slot, and her B-Slot is completely flexible anyways.

For a more generalized answer, pretty much any ranged unit whos stats are similar to Mellee units. Usually, Ranged units with CC don't win out against mellee because they have lower BST, so Archers aren't that good for it, but inverted mages like boey have the advantage of hitting on Resistance which many units dont have that much of. So basically, Boey, the Robins, Henry, Sophia maybe, and I don't know if Im forgetting anyone.

I still feel as if the Owl Tome Summer Corrin build I saw was the best Close Counter build. With that build and flier buffs, she was able to get to over 40 Res and 40 Defense, which is just bonkers. But if you don't have a Corrin, Boey is still probably the champion of CC mage builds.

Wait for Arvis, if he really is an armored mage he will be the best CC user in the game, and even if he isnt he may be bulky so I would recomend waiting
