Golden areas on Grand Conquest?

Its areas with bonus, they affect adjacent areas.

Click in one area with this border and look to the "Area Effects", there a icon there, click to see the effect.

It means that two bonuses apply in that area. Ie: horse units get +4 to all stats and the second bonus is all horse units can have follow up attacks.
