Giving Owain a Stretch

So I have exactly 1 Owain to fodder off. I'm building a DC/Wrath unit, and was planning to use him for Wrath 3, but after reading what people have been saying about his skills, Blue Flame seems like something pretty premium. Is there a significant upgrade from Wrath 2 to Wrath 3 that would warrant me foddering Owain for Wrath 3 instead of Wrath 2 and Blue Flame, and is Blue Flame strong enough to warrant that sacrifice? Thanks

The thing about DC units is that unless it's someone with fairly low attack, like Fir, they don't really need Wrath to kill a lot of the mages they'd be up against. Quick Riposte would be better unless they're naturally fast enough to double units, or have help with things like Spd Ploy.

Depending on the unit, I wouldn't even bother with Wrath, but I would do some testing on Blue Flame.

Sorry, just realized I didn't even mention the unit in the post. The unit I'm building is Selena, who I'm building more because I like her than because she's the best for the role. Which is to say, she comes out around 47-49 Atk at full merges with a +Atk weapon refine. Interesting point about other DC units though, thanks, I'll keep it in mind.

I'm 90% sure Selena will end up hitting harder with ignis if you build her right. It's higher charge, but when you're already getting up to 3CD and you're tanky like her I think you may as well go up to 4 and make sure of the KO.

Blue flame is actually pretty specific. A lot of units can achieve similar damage using bonfire or ignis with the right weapon. You might like to read what I wrote here https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/q-a/blue-flame-or-aether
At the moment, Anna is the best candidate I know for blue flame, especially with her prf.

As for wrath, I do think there is a significant difference between wrath 2 and wrath 3. Wrath tends to belong on units who can take a hit (and I mean it figuratively, so literally I mean definitely more than one) because you can't use desperation with it (at least not yet), so if you get hit only once, you probably don't drop below 50%HP.

as a guy who gave a certain dancer Blue Flame, I can say that it is stupid good, under the right circumstances. If you plan on buffing said DC unit, then I would potentially recommend having an ally support partner beside them and simply letting Blue Flame Wreck Havoc.

Otherwis,e other skills work better.
