Gerome Isn't Getting Love

He was one of my more liked children not so much based on personality, but history. Plus, Nightwing mask. Probably won't be great, but I'm still excited for his inclusion. That said, no more Awakening/Fates. PLEASE.

No; give us more Awakening/Fates. And more Blazing Sword. And Laguz units. And MORE Genealogy. And MORE Thracia after April's banner. And MORE New Mystery.

Don't just write off Awakening and Fates because they're "modern" Fire Emblem. There's members of the cast of both games that I'd love to see (Or not see, in Kellam's case). There's a lot of possibility for new weapons, new skills, and cool designs from those games, and I'd like as much variety as possible.

The fact we're getting Gerome for free, and FeMorgan is the first permanently available flying mage is a boon to players. How many classes outside Fates/Awakening had ranged fliers? (Javelins & magic swords don't count). Answer is any of the ones where Falcoknights had Staves... so not many in the scheme of things.

Similarly, with the hint that we're going to be getting colorless Dragons, wouldn't that be a really cool little quirk for Kana or Nah? Something to make those units really stand out. Alternatively, they could make the colorless dragons units like Kurthnaga or Ena from Tellius, that would also be cool.

I'm all for less Awakening and Fates units on seasonal banners. I'm all for seeing more units from other games. But Awakening and Fates still have very large pools of characters to be drawn from.

Personally, I don't agree with the no more Awakening/Fates. No more permanently available doppelgangers that share color or weapon, though. No more Memories Eirika or Exalt Chrom. New units in their places. Seriously; this banner was the perfect time for Owain, Noire, Nah... any of the second-gen characters. Not another Chrom.

People don't want any more Fates/Awakening units because for a LONG time that's really all Intelligent Systems was releasing. A lot of the "limited time" units were from Fates or Awakening and ended up getting multiple versions before they started giving characters from other games the "Let's make an Emblem team out of you" treatment.

Chrom is about to get his 3rd version.
Lucina has 4 versions (including Masked Marth)
M!Robin has 3 versions (Yes, including Grima)
Camilla has 3 versions.
Takumi has 3 versions.
Xander has 3 versions.
Azura has 3 versions.

Would I like more Awakening units? Yes. I'd LOVE to see Owain, Kellam, and Yarne. Would I like more Fates units? Not really.

But it's easy to see why many other people want to have other units from less-represented games be in FEH.

And in comparison, now look at:

Ike - three versions, two permanent.
Lyn - four versions, two permanent.
Roy - three versions, two permanent.
Eirika - two versions, and both are permanent.

Hector - two versions; one permanent, one seasonal with a second permanent on its way.
Celica - two permanent versions, with a THIRD permanent incoming.
Ephraim - two versions, one permanent, one legendary with a second permanent inc

I'm not arguing that we don't have a lot of representation from those games, and when FE: Switch comes out (rumored to be towards the end of this year), I'm expecting a lot of representation from that too. But, to counter this, the only really problematic ones in my eyes is the permanent duplicates. Especially the Roy; Eirika and Chrom cases. In all three, they're mounted units with a weapon of the same color as their base kit, superior movement and superior weapon effects.

Let's break down the ones you listed, just for arguement's sake.

Lucina has two permanent, one TT and one seasonal.

M!Robin has two permanent, one seasonal.

Camilla has one permanent and two seasonal.

Takumi has one permanent, one GHB and one seasonal (also the worst offender for color variety, all three being the same and two sharing weapon type).

Xander has NO permanent, one GHB and two seasonal (Only multiple-variation recruitable character in the game that's not permanently in the summoning pool, an issue in-and-of itself).

Azura has one permanent and two seasonal.

My concern isn't in the Brave heroes (where the fans chose them, not the developers), nor in the seasonal. It's in those repeated permanent units. If you ignore Seasonal units (where it makes sense to have units already in-game since they're intended to make people spend money on the game), then every duplicate permanently summonable unit is another unit that isn't in the game already missing out.

Could Chrom have been replaced by Owain in this banner? Easily! Or Brady, or Severa, or Kjelle, or just about anybody else. Fallen Celica could easily have been replaced by one of Sonya's sisters as far as witch units are concerned, while Grima-Robin doesn't really get a free pass either when we could have gotten Validar. I know they did it for the "Good vs. Evil" voting gauntlet, but seriously.

Side-note: There's a lot of plotline important units from Fates that we don't have; with primary positions going to Kaze and Silas.

Cool? I want representation from lesser games. I want them to balance the representation. Genealogy has an insanely big cast when including non-married replacements, Thracia, after April's banner, will only have FIVE UNITS. Mystery and Binding are lacking, and Tellius too. I want to see THESE games get up to at least 10 units before I see another Awakening. I hate most Fates characters, so if we don't ever see them, I'll be fine.

Look; I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm saying disregard Seasonal units; those are chosen by the developers to bait people into buying; so of course they're going to choose "popular" characters. In short, Seasonal units don't add to or subtract from the representation you want; they're just cash flow padding and filler.

Would I like to see more of all those games? You bet. Do I expect "equal representation"? Eh... not especially, no. Genealogy, Thracia, New Mystery and Binding Blade never were translated into English, so they won't have the same draw to non-hardcore fans. Tellius sold really poorly in Japan; and I think the developers are hesitant to include too much from there because of that, while "fan demand" isn't really there for the other games, since the worldwide exposure is not anywhere near as high as the Awakening and Fates fans screaming for more.

In all honesty, I'm surprised we haven't seen more from Echoes and Shadow Dragon; there's a lot of units in those two that deserve to show up.
