GC worth contributing at this point?

I checked in and my territory is pinned down to two spots and Anna got wiped out. Is it worth contributing anymore?

I'm still learning this mode and I don't hate it, but I feel like this mode could use some improvements.

"Needs Improvements" is the key phrase here. This new mode is definitely interesting but the balance for it feels way off at times. Obviously most could see right off the bat that Sharena's army automatically had an advantage due to the map layout. Scoring more or less feels fine. Since they chose to use the Rival Domains format for the individual battles that has caused other issues with difficulty for some. Doing something about the mass teleport mechanic would probably nullify a lot of the issues that people are having.

Overall at this point it's probably best not to worry about the actual outcome for this GC since it's the first one and still in need of some design improvements to begin with. My recommendation is to mostly just focus on leveling up your Tier rank so that you can get the rewards that are actually in your control.

Eh, I say only do it to snag the rewards from the tiers.

I elect that this gamemode is rather lackluster in its current stage, the difficulty is horrendous (why does literally every enemy have a whale build....), and if your team isn't active/you get screwed early on, there's literally no return. they need to make it more fair? idk how theyd do it but eh

The "Whale" build enemies that you are encountering are most likely the leads from other people. When you use the "Help Out" option on the map screen it randomly assigns your lead to "Help" on one of the current battle sites, thus adding your unit to the defending army there and replacing one of the stock units that originally would have spawned. That would be why it's throwing some really nasty armies at you. It doesn't specifically say anything about your lead units assisting in battle, only about boosting the "Cooperation Bonus" for that area but this is most likely whats actually happening to lead too all of the whale units.

As for the non-active team part, well that will be on IS to figure out a way to balance everything a little more so that one army doesn't inherently get a map advantage right from the get go, resulting in people quickly losing interest.

I'm not sure myself, since Im at GC tier 17 and see that unless I get some hella lucky lunatic run with a perfect set of kills and captures, I wont make it to tier 20. And that's why Im keeping my Lances for the next battle. Like, I love this gamemode, it's pretty interesting and you/your team has alot more control over the outcome, compared to say, Voting Gauntlet. I love it to death, but it needs a few fixes.
A: The teleportation and mass respawns with +10 units (yup, that's a huge issue in itself)
B: The stamina system seems fine, but it takes a while to fight if you don't use your lances, so I would recommend tuning down the lance cooldown.
C: Team Positioning/Overworld map layout. Sharena has a bit more to work with in her starting position. She doesn't have any paths that lead directly to her that don't require alot of work, compared to Alfonse who you can reach pretty quickly, same for Anna.

In my outrealm the battle is pretty dead even right now, Sharena controlling 16 while the others control the rest. But it's not as fair as it could be. And even then Sharena is getting her ass handed to her with the amount of merged super units I keep spotting ontop of the battle ranks. It feels like you're actually playing an infernal map on the lunatic difficulty, except that they have infinite respawns and teleporting to make it all the more difficult.

Wait....Awakenings endgame in a nutshell....oh boy
