The Game...

I've heard alot of talk of the game going stale and truth be told I don't think it truly is. Could it use more content? Sure, it sure as hell could. But right now, it truly isn't that bad.

3.0 is about to hit and people are claiming it's make or break, where in reality it's never been like that. People put far too much hope into it and I'm just wondering how many people are getting overly hopefuly or keep saying "it's make it or break it time" for FEH when other games that do far worse have lasted much longer. I just find it kinda sad that people see it in such a way, as if it's so easy to implement all these things they want into a game, as if the dev's just sneeze and make these huge designs, maps and characters and stories. Truth be told, I'm going to hold out because FE is a series of games I like, and if you're going to leave because this is "make it or break it" then be my guest.

Plus the loss of revenue can be seen in 2 ways. Either the fans didn't like these banners (which is entirely possible, I fit in this category) so I haven't bought, or the simple fact that they're saving for 3.0 in the hopes of a banner that holds something better (which is also kinda smart )

Anybody else just feel like people are taking this whole 3.0 has to save the game nonesense and blowing it out of the water a bit much?

What loss of revenue? Has that been reported? I'm curious.

I was pretty surprised/disappointed when I looked today and saw nothing to do. No new banner, no new quests, no new events, pretty much nothing to spend stamina on at all. Not even an SP boost in effect and the Aether Raids is closed. To top it off, a measly 100 feathers for the daily log in. Makes me wonder if they even want people to play the game every day anymore.

Report

Well, according to recent monetary reports, FEH's revenue for November (not the rest of it's lifetime) has dropped from 100 mil per month to 60 mil+ this month. That's why people are saying it's dying.

And it's update day, a single day without something to do won't kill the game my dude. They probably haven't hyped anything up or put any events on to avoid having to alter things mid run. But that's how I see it.

Report

If they're losing money, then I definitely hope they take a look at some of the units they've been putting out, specifically their more recent leaning toward making units/banners clearly geared solely/primarily toward a straight male audience and totally (or mostly) ignoring the rest of us. If it turns out they're overestimating how much of their money-spending player base is straight males, I hope that's something they recognize and correct soon. I know that kind of thing is the reason I for one have stopped spending money (at least, as much) on the game more recently.

I suppose one explanation for nothing to do today is that the game is supposed to be down for several hours later, and that might be more annoying to people if there was actually something fun to do.

I'm definitely curious to see what they announce for book 3, though.

Report

Yes it has been. November's revenue was by far the lowest for this game over the past year which was probably due to multiple factors, lack of quality content and unpopular banners.

Also i hear that Dragalia lost (which has opened server for 5 regions) got a higher revenue than Heroes (which has 40something regions) since last month or October

Report

You do know how pricey Dragalia is, right? Like the game itself has lower rates than FGO and the paid currency takes more money to purchase. It's akin to how in FGO 20 dollars wont get you a full pull but here in FEH it will.

Let that sink in.

Report

Plus Dragalia is new.
It has a lot of people who try it out and are stupid enough to pay for a game they won't stick with.

With Feh a lot of the short term players have left by now.
So part of the difference is due to that

Report

As a p2p, I spend enough to hold them up by myself, I hadn't heard anything about them losing money.

Is that why they pulled that Surtr grab cash scheme?

I believe that it is getting a bit stale, and I think it's just because I've been in the game so long, logging in every day.

I spend about an hour on this game every day, and it doesn't seem like a lot, but it def adds up.

We all probably just want something fresh to happen, but we're not very sure what we want content wise. I know most of us are pretty tired of the "too many alts" thing. (read: Lyn, Lucina, Camilla). I feel like the whole beast units would get people happy again, as beast units are a big part that's missing from the game as of now.

idk.

I'm just excited about 3.0. I hope for good things.

Report

Yeah it just needs a slight boost, a good push. If FGO who's major attraction is story and it's gameplay is grindy as hell, can survive for as long as it has, I'm sure IS can pull it off as well. They just have to move a bit faster.

>"As a p2p, I spend enough to hold them up by myself, I hadn't heard anything about them losing money."

You gravely underestimate just how much it costs to run even just normal gacha games.

Report

At least for me, 3.0 will determine how long i will keep playing the game, i completed every content available at the moment (Chain challenge included) and i have nothing to do, im in t20.5 and arena is becoming more and more repetitive (AA included).
The summoning pool is in such a bad position that even summoning is not that fun anymore, the modes are always (the only fun thing that remained is testing new seals i guess), Aether raid isn't a bad mode but it's not that fun, and you can't play that much there anyway

Report

I think they made some big missteps with AR. It was an attempt to introduce a fun new game mode for people who like PVP, but I think it was a huge mistake to make each match cost more as you leveled up, and then to have no good way to replenish other than to wait it out. It's basically punishing people for actually wanting to play AR. It's very weird. Even someone like me, who only plays it maybe once a day when there's a daily reward, if I decide to go ahead and play as many times as I can for kicks, I can only get maybe four or so matches in, and I'm not anywhere near the top tiers. And then there's the way that at higher tiers you actually can lose lift by losing matches, thus again punishing those who have put the time/effort into it. It was all just so weirdly implemented, I'm not sure what they were thinking.

Report

I think the key to enjoying Feh is to not play it all the time.
Feh is just not a game build to take a hours of your time, it's supposed to be played in 5-15 minutes sessions when you happen to have time.

Also I feel people are putting to much expectations in 3.0
Feh always has been a game that's been updated over the course of small updates. 2.0 was no differend.

3.0 might be a bigger jump than normal, but I keep my expectations low. I'm just happy that we know the refines are going to characters who deserves them

Report

Imo, yeah. Like, the game is still fun and it'll obviously keep updating. Until the game becomes truly dry and unoriginal, I have think things will be fine. People are just impatient.

Report

For the most part, yeah. I get where they are coming from, that it's a bit lacklustre recently, but I still think it is the best mobile game out there, though I don't have much to compare it with.

I think arena is in a decent place at the moment, with the addition of Aether raids. They balance each other out quite well, I think. Yeah, they both could use some tweaks, (Namely the ability to at any time challenge a friend's fort for no cost but no reward, or little cost/little reward. However it may be.) but they are pretty fun for me.

People do say beast units would change up the game, but I don't think they would change up the game all that much, since, while they would change up individual matches, the goals are still the same. (Don't get me wrong, though, I definitely want beast units.) What I think would make the game much better would be to include allied NPCs in maps. You might need to rescue them, to protect them, escort them, etc. This would change up gameplay and is what I liked most about AR. (Trying to get the pots as a secondary objective, even though I've mostly given that up at this point.) And also possibly to include objectives like; kill X unit, and you get repeated respawn waves until that goal is completed. Things like that would break up the gameplay and make it much more fresh, I feel.

Report

Allied NPC's in maps is a super cool idea, but if they're way far away, you'd basically be pushed to use calvary and flying mostly for your team, not really any more armoured units.

It's def a good idea though, I like it a lot.

Report

I think the problem with the pots in AR is that they give you so little reward if you make it, you quickly realize it's not worth it. Like for me, I think it's costing around 65 per round, and a pot might give me like 6. Which means it's not actually doing anything at all to build up to even one more round, so what's the point?

I do like your idea of secondary objectives like that in maps. I just think there would need to be more of a reward to completing them in order to be worth it. (And 'you fail the map if you don't complete it' isn't what I'm talking about. Maybe for the good players who are looking for a real challenge, that kind of thing is fine, but for the less talented and more casual of us, failing entirely because we failed partly just feels like a waste. Like when I fail a three-round thing entirely because my last team failed on the last round, and I end up with nothing at all. I ain't got time for that.)

Report

True. I was more thinking in things like story mode (think of the possibilities for storytelling!) or as the main objective. I don't think it should touch AR, arena, TT, VG or GC. That leaves story mode (and chain challenges, etc.) RD, GHB/LHB/BHB, event maps and anything they have yet to release. Those would be the best places for this.

Report

I agree. They release new summons and skills and stuff so constantly and new characters and interesting skills and mechanics really quickly, and we have been spoiled with all of the new stuff we get, when it must be incredibly stressful, and we need to appreciate all of the content they provide. As well, the wait time for 3.0 is understandable because new story, characters, functions, and its probably one of the biggest updates yet.

Report

I do agree that people strictly using 3.0 as "make or break" is probably a little premature. Considering that they've more or less left the player base in limbo over the past 4 months though it's way past time that they added something significant to this game. AR felt more of like a prop-up mode to me just so they could quiet some of the hate they're getting for their piss-poor arena system. New units can only extend interest so far before new content becomes required so that people actually have a reason to pull for these units.

Since AR isn't exactly a groundbreaking idea for a mode (come on they borrowed this from Fates) not to mention they pretty much tipped their hand a year ago during the survey that this mode was coming the current perception is that they really aren't trying with development. We most likely won't see anything of substance with tonight's FEH channel but they would be extremely foolish to go into the new year with no new real PvE content planned (and no book 3 doesn't count).

I'll probably be maintaining my wait and see approach for now but if this carries on much longer it may be time to cut ties with this game.

Report

Well in many ways 3.0 is kind of a make or break, in the sense that other than AR, there really hasn't had much keeping the game fresh. I personally will keep playing for a while yet.

Report

- Can it be a grind? Yes
- Is the RNG mechanic frustrating? Yes
- Do I enjoy Aether Raids? Not so much
However, it's still a fun game. It seems slow/stale because we're at the end of year 2 and in a predictable cycle of content. Update 3.0 will shake things up.

Personally, I believe the following things will keep the game interesting:

- Chapter 3 of the story
- Demotion of units (In year 1, even a 4* was exciting, lately I feel like I spend hundreds of orbs for 1-2 new units and 5,000 copies of Bartre)
- Some way to enhance older skills on your favorite units. For example, earn coins to promote Fury 3 to Fury 4. (Give me a reward for all that grinding)
