Fodder or not to fodder?

So I was going through my alt's barracks and saw a couple of units that I haven't used in a while/never leveled up. So I wanted to ask whether or not to use some of the heroes for fodder/level them up:
1. Karla, +HP -Def (I'd fodder her for a tactic team, already have a +Spd Mia)
2. Karel, Neutral IV's (He has Wo Dao+ and Desperation)
3. Celica, +HP -Res (She has Distant Def, would give it to my female Morgan)
4. Sigurd, -Atk +Def (He has Close Def)
5. Shiro, +HP -Res (He has Steady Stance)
6. Spring Xander, +Def -? (He has Carrot Lance+)
I also have 2 Mia's so would the Flashing Blade be worth foddering or should I merge them to my +Spd one?

Since you already have a +Spd Mia, I would merge your other two copies and inherit Even Spd Wave from Karla. Save Shiro till you have a spare Brave Ike, if you want to give someone Steady Breath + Aether, you will have to first fodder Shiro for Steady Stance 1 & 2 then Brave Ike for Steady Breath + Aether. Sounds like you have a plan for F Morgan, so fodder Celica to her. Karel isn’t the greatest fodder, if you have someone that really wants Wo Dao then go for it. Same with Xander, his axe is very unique but not a lot of units want it. I gave mine to Sheena and it’s “ok”. Sigurd could be foddered for Close Defense if needed, or Spd Smoke if you don’t have/want to upgrade a Fallen Takumi for it.

Alright, so I'll merge Mia, save Ike, Sigurd and Karel for later and fodder Celica and Karla, sounds like a solid plan ^^ But I think you might have misread my Spring Xander as Summer Xander, since mine has a lance, not an axe. I was mainly asking about him since his healing Lance seems good for fodder, but his +Def boon makes him some what usable.

Plenty of options. I'll point out two things:
- Several of them serve similar roles: Karel, Mia, probably Karla. If you're big on AA scoring, you can give them different blessings to use according to the seasons. Same goes for Celica and any other offensively oriented red mages you have and possibly other units on your list.
- Barring that, it depends what roles are needed. Sigurd has a very passive IV there but extremely solid if you're keeping close def. Karel is a perfectly good unit, comes with desperation and wields Nameless Blade with solid speed. The only unit that doesn't really excite me is Shiro and Spring Xander, both because I know almost nothing about them.
