This post will be probably burried under all those legendary banner posts, but whatever.
Ever since my friend impressed me with the power of his bladetome S.Corrin, getting a flier mage has been one of my goals in this game. So far, I got no luck getting one, not Hone fliers for that matter.
Now that I saw and evaluated the legendary banner, I want to do the same with the swift sparrow banner.
If I look at the stats, innate skills etc. Isn't SF.Nino the best flier mage, even compared across the colors?
Isn't she even the one that performs the best outside of a bladetome build with her prf tome?
Red might be a little better since it allows to nuke the low res green armors, but both H.Nowi and S.Tana are seasonals, so they weill be harder to get and very hard to merge...
But now that I think about it, 5 star exclusive are almost out of the realm of considerations for F2P plebs like myself... but still, the possibility of getting more merges for her vs virtually no possibility seems to speak to the favour of permanent pool units.
That leaves us with F.Morgan and SF.Nino, and since this is rather focused on a search for a PVE nuker - Nino seems to take the win.
Finally, cost consideration - orb efficiency is very important to me, which is why I generally dont summon on 4 unit 3/3 banners.
But this Swift Sparrow banner, isn't it the cheapest or most statistically orb efficient way i'm gonna get a flying mage... ever?
Well, unless 3-4 months from now they run a Legendary banner with both Summer Camilla and F.Morgan, or a flying tome legendary together with another tome legendary together in one colour, which seems very weird to me. Why would they do that? they always seem to include varied heroes....
TL:DR - I want to get the best flier mage the cheapest I can. Should I snipe for SF Nino??
Given that we don't have many female flying mages, and there's no telling when we get the next one, getting Nino now might be the best option.
The only other option is either going for Nowi on a rerun of last year's halloween banner, or hoping one will come in a new banner.
It's very unlikely we'll get a 4* mage flier anyway.

I got a +spd -def Lilina 2 months ago. I was kinda disappointed then, I wanted Winter Lissa the most by far of the green focus units.
Now she's a staple of my ragtag horse emblem team with a regular gronnblade from a 3star nino.
The thing is, i got 2 spare Jagens but no more Gunthers to reorganize the buffs on the horsies. My 2 freebie Gunthers went early on to Reinhardt and B.Lyn as they were carrying me, cheesing through content together (and still are).
I've heard it's a good idea to put offensive buffs on tanky emblem units and defensive on the nukers, and I have my hones on the nukers....
Can't find/decide on good tanky horses. Xander and Camus seem kinda outdated and I remember Walhart analyses conlusions being "just use Freddie"
Now i'm not as hard pressed for orbs as I got 525 right now. I feel like i can get a good haul out of the 8% banner and one other one and still have some ~150 leftover orbs for emergencies
EDIT: I just always overanalyse and try to minmax things in games, that's why I'll probably always look like the guy most pressed for orbs on planet earth x)
K that generalization about offensive buffs on tanks and defensive buffs on attackers is a good rule of thumb but it can require significant deviation, especially when blade tomes are involved. To provide a textbook example, an arena defense team of Reinhardt+B.Lyn+dancer+bonus unit should definitely use double hone cavalry unless you're doing tactics. As for you, if you're using Reinhardt+B.Lyn+Lilina I think you should probably use three hones and a fortify. (And if you pull greens on the legendary banner or Muspell banner you will probably get Gunter). I'm guessing you don't have Sigurd? My main cavalry tank right now is G.Marth, but you could even go with, like, base kit 5* Clarine with dazzle refine.
Blade mage fliers have their own advantages, but I wouldn't chase them until you have a horse team, which is generally cheaper.
The 4th horse is usually a my +Atk -spd Ares that i promoted because his weapon seemed really cool.
I also got a -Spd +HP Gunthra and my free Brave Veronica. (Ethlyn is also an option but I haven't used her yet)
All really good units, but all of them are player phase, I thought I'd balance it out with a tanky EP cavalier
Nino is fantastic, and is flexible enough to run in both a flier emblem team as well as mixed teams. If you can, try to snipe one on the Swift Sparrow banner and save your orbs for H! Nowi as it’s pretty much a given that she will be on a banner next month for Halloween. As far as blue tome fliers go, either Summer Camilla or Summer Corrin will both work well for the blue slot. I don’t recommend Morgan, as she’s more of a enemy phase unit. The icing on the cake will be getting your hands on NY Azura to complete the team. Merges aren’t necessary, they are incredibly powerful but don’t expect them to be your main arena team as they will not score very high. I run H! Nowi & Summer Camilla with Blade Tomes along with Nino and NY Azura mainly for arena assault and they have no problem taking out fully merged teams I put them up against in my arena assault runs.
I don't think I need all of them though.... Nino might be ebough, maybe a seasoal if I she comes with great units on a LB and i get lucky...
Yeah I need that NY Azura *_* I do have YT Olivia, she's amazing, but comes with guidance instead of hone fliers. I know SI can fix that, but this SI is bloody expensive!
