Fire Emblem Discord for LGBTQ+ Fans
Hello all! I started an FE/FEH discord for LGBTQ+ fire emblem fans. We are fairly small so far but are looking to grow, and we are fairly responsive to messages :)
Hope to see you there http://discord.gg/YgqRRgG
EDITED: Link works now
Here's the rules:
In this space we:
-Respect everyone's pronouns, names, experiences, and identities.
-Actively work to eliminate and mitigate homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, islamophobia, etc., from our space and from our words.
-Do not post sexually explicit content. Fan service is ok, but only if it is not explicit and is not of underage characters.
This is a space for LGBTQ+ people, and supportive allies. Know however that if you are not LGBTQ+ this is not your space and if you are disruptive to our group or disrespectful towards our identities you will be kicked.
The purpose of this discord is to to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ Fire Emblem fans. LGBTQ+ art, stories, and discussion of Fire Emblem games and media are encouraged!
Yeah if you think basic respect is "cancer" then we didn't want to interact with you anyway *shrug*
I've seen exactly 16 other servers that do the exact same thing as yours, its not even just about attempts to force people to partake is self delusions, its about not having anything worth staying for to begin with. Whats the hook to keep people from leaving in the first place? For example, in my own server, its basically impossible to get banned, everyone says and does whatever they want whenever they want in the spirit of freedom of speech, whats your servers draw?
Uh idk dude there's a fairly active group of users that use my server and you're just not one of them. You can go ahead and,,, move on if you would like? Some people prefer a space where they will be... respected I guess? Idk a lot of people don't think having guidelines for respectful interaction is "cancer" :/
The cancer is putting so many restrictions on people that join.
Who would want to be in a server where they could accidentally get in trouble for something as retarded as accidentally using the "Wrong" pronouns? It completely stifles vivacious and spontaneous creativity since you never know whats gonna set someone off and get you into trouble.
Lol. Y'all have this vision of what the server must be like and I can guarantee you it's not like that. Like if you mess up or say something weird it's just like "hey maybe don't" and we move on. i just have that as a warning for people who will come in and say "fuck fags" and leave dude. it's really fine you can move on whenever you want we are thriving bud
If you were thriving you wouldnt be advertising here. You want fresh blood to revive a stale situation, but you dont want that blood to be too different, which just ends up being a cycle of repetition. I don't even care about the server, I went in, read the rules, deemed them stupid, said so, and then left. If I wanted to be an ass i'd rejoin with an alt, play along with your charade, then @ every single server member individually in every single channel and essentially be a nuisance, but I didn't do that, because it's not worth the effort.
You need to work on your servers rules if you want a server that doesnt have 90% of its users offlline at any given point. A quiet server is a dead server.
This is the problem with liberals, you tell them something they dont wanna hear, then they shut you out.
NPC's, the lot of them. Abstract concepts baffle them so they shut down and reject everything until its easy to think about, prime example being this whole chain of posts.
I don't understand who you think is excluded by these rules that deserves to be in the group? Anyone who is respectful and kind can enter the group. That's all the rules say. If you go to a community group like the fuckin boys and girls club they have rules too! Many against racism sexism and prejudice. Is the boys and girls club too exclusive? I don't think i've heard that complaint very often and yet they also have rules prohibiting racist and sexist behavior.
Okay, I can see what you mean and to an extent, I can understand, but you can't honestly see how people are finding fault? You established rules that are inherently exclusionary towards people who don't understand what LGBT is on a proper level, immediately shaving off a good part of the populace and putting them off from it. Not to mention, "setting a safe space for LGBT people" in FE? We're very likely the most open to it out there, considering how we're as open as we are to the likes of OTP ships as well as how much we like characters like Leon (SoV) and the like.
Look, you do you and I apologize if I come off as brash but this is not a good way to make a group
this is something I don't understand. Why do people think they can eliminate/mitigate homophobia, racism ect. by excluding themselves from everyone else? isn't that completely against it? u know, acting like you are not like other people and feel the need to escape from "regular" people? If you disagree with someone, then say it to them. NOT the people you agree with. Also, saying that "this is no place for people outside of LGBTQ+" is incredibly narrow-minded. if we want to accept diversity you have to accept EVERYONE.
I am happy that you want to help and create a safe place for people but that will not help LGBTQ+ people imo.
lol. again y'all must really think we are out here absolutely shitting on anyone who doesn't think the same way we do. nah we just don't want people calling us slurs and being dicks. like i said the server is open to anyone who agrees to try to be civil and follow the rules. not sure why y'all are so mad, you're really reading into this in a way that it is not meant to be.
I never said you weren't gay lol. We are not "fighting" anyone. We are literally just trying to exist. There are other spaces for everyone that don't have these rules, and if they don't appeal to you you really can move on and find one of those. But again I'm not trying to confront ism's societally and create social change. This is just a social group for LGBTQ+ and allied people so we have some base guidelines so everyone feels respected. Not that deep
Also, it's not like this is a group to fight racism and sexism broadly. Like the rules specifically say "mitigate these in *our group*" If I were trying to start some anti-racist or anti-sexist social movement group yeah the rules and vetting standards would look different. But we're not so they aren't. Anyways
That's a pretty pointless thing to do, making such a limiting spot for an already small community. Not like we really need anymore reasons for people to think we're exclusionary (before you ask, I'm gay so you can't just buffer me out), so this is just detrimental.
Edit: I know I can sound all over the place but it's telling that this comment has no reply from OP
Is this mostly a place where we just complain about how guys are getting shafted for seasonals because I'm on board. Though I think every straight girl pretty much shares the sentiment so I don't know why you'd need to make it an LGBTQ thing.
Though seriously we need Christman Gordin, and we need Summer Lukas and Klein. I will stand by it that we did NOT need that Cordelia this year. If they really needed fates they could've used Silas it's so easy. Make him color share with Innes and there goes all my orbs.
So... the hell is the point of advertising here then? You obviously know it didn't work too well last time and is working worse this time. The point of advertising is to bring in people. If you didn't bring them in the first time, why do it again in the place that was already bad?
You've brought nothing to our forums but still plague them with your servers. At least get to know the group first, like damn. All for making a place where people can be themselves, but you're hurting your cause.
While I don't share the hate some of us do, I still find it a bit wierd.
It kinda feels like the group is about 'LGBTQ' more that Fire Emblem. Of course, I don't know if it is, but that's the vibe it gives off if it's posted here like that.
Why does it have to matter if the topic is about Fire Emblem? It's like me saying I want a chat group for people who like to eat hamburgers, and people who like to wear sneakers.
Both are valid things to like, but why mix them up?
Not exactly the same, but it's kinda how I feel.
It's about both bc things can be. Two things. Your point doesn't really make sense to me but I get how it might to you. The reason this space exists is bc if we try to post LGBTQ+ fire emblem content elsewhere, it's mostly straight people who will see it, and then they will inevitably complain. So we just took a step out for you guys by. going somewhere else so you don;t have to complain when we try to live our lives and enjoy lgbtq+ fire emblem content
I can kinda get it.
What I think the problem is, is the rise of forced LGTB stuff in media has people becomming sick of it, creating the backlash.
Not an expert on the topic, nor do I care too much, but people seem to kinda be tired of feeling that LGTB and being diverse overshadows the 'main' topic
In all honesty, I think some people here are kinda over reacting.
If you don't want to chat about it, stay away. And I'm saying that as someone who has no interesst in joining a discord like that.
I hope you're not letting this get to you.
y'all are so into it damn. like take a deep breath and use critical thinking about each of the rules.
"- respect everyone's pronouns, names, [etc]"
okay. that's just decency. idk how some of y'all got "if I mess up in someone's pronouns I'll get kicked out" out of that. so much of this is manners but y'all get so heated when it's lgbt people huh
- "do not post sexually explicit content" alright. there's probably people in the server who don't want to see it out of their own personal preference or minors. 'dont send porn' is just a basic rule.
- "this is a space for lgbtq people, etc" again this is someone saying 'if you arent LGBT, then be aware that this space is focused on LGBT fans'. that's it
- "the purpose of this discord" read above
y'all are so pressed abt this lmao just take a deep breaths and think critically
