Feathers use

Lately most of my feathers have gone toward merges for Fir (+5) and Ares (+2) with +spd/-def Caeda being the exception to help my flying teams after getting F!Morgan, B!Ninian, and SF!Nino recently. But I only have one extra of each currently so with just over 20k feathers I was wondering if it might be a good idea to start working on Fae for a bit instead, I have a 4* +atk/-hp Fae. And out of the dragons in Heroes she's probably my favorite, although Binding Blade is my second favorite FE hence part of why Fir is my main merge project. At least I like her much more than Nowi, who I do have 5* with the SB/Aether set.

But at the same time I don't know where I should start when it comes to Fae, promoting a A!Tiki or Nowi to give her LB+ first or promoting her to 5* first and LB+ after that? I do have an extra B!Ike but I'll wait till I absolute have everything else set first before I even consider giving her SB potentially. And when my most used green units recently are SF!Nino and WT!Olwen a bulkier green seems like a more justifiable use of feathers than most other things.

When it comes to using Fae, how desperate are you in need of a good green unit? If it's really needed, go ahead and build her up. at the level you're at, it would seem wiser to keep building up merges for better arena score. The only problem would be that the Fae would have no merges on her. You could consider a 4*+10 of her. But yeah, depends on how badly you need a green.

I've kinda stopped caring too much about arena score after the most recent changes (to 5 battles) as I went from T19-20 bouncing back to bouncing between T18-19 and I'm kinda content with that as long as I keep getting the 4 orbs each week. So I've kinda relegated 4* merging to characters I use sparingly at most and sorta prefer building units at 5* especially if they're going to end up getting more premium skills. 4*+10 Est kind of being the exception getting DB3 and Brave Lance+.

As far as 5* green units go, I use Amelia, SF!Nino, and WT!Olwen the most recently.

Soren a decent bit when I need a mage with a bit more res bulk than the previous 2.

I have Michalis although his usage has dropped more as my flying options have increased with Caeda, F!Morgan, B!Ninian, and SF!Nino recently.

B!Ike mainly only sees use in AA. Gunnthra I've kinda stopped using ever since getting WT!Olwen. Similarly LA!Lilina and Sonya struggles to see use over Soren, SF!Nino, and WT!Olwen.

And I do have M!Grima but I don't really like using him as I prefer Amelia as my green armor, but he sees occasional use when all-armor quests show up.

When I commit to a merge project, I first make sure they have all the skills I wanted on that unit. If you're missing premium skills, it's ok to maintain a budget set first but if you have them available and you are sure about committing to the merge, have them learn those skills.

Let me share with you my first long term undertaking. I wanted to build a Nowi+Fae+A!Tiki dragon team. I first made the units with the IVs I wanted to 5*. Then I focused on skill inheritance. Finally I started the Nowi merges until +10. Now I'm working on Fae merges. Even if you don't have the premium skills yet, it's ok to go with a budget set. When I didn't have SB/WB & Aether, I was running Fury/TA & Bonfire/Moonbow, which is totally fine. But I did get started on the merges once I had the essential skills: LB and QR. Once I come across the other premium skills as I played the game, I made them learn the skills. I actually did not promote Chroms for Aether but rather used Shiros for Steady Stance so I can learn both Aether and Steady Breath when I get B!Ike. Only exception was A!Tiki because I gave her Warding Breath instead.

It really all comes down to selecting one unit you want to commit to first and sticking with it until you can't go further or complete it. If you can't go further because you lack a merge or skill, then you can switch to another unit but once the material becomes available for the previous project, go back to it again and slowly work to completion. tl:dr, don't spread your resources too thin.

Well Fir is kinda about as complete as I can make her now, without getting lucky enough to get her DC or Wrath. And that's kinda why I want to save the one extra Fir for now in case I do get DC for her. My current Fir is +atk/-res and the other is +spd/-def neither the most ideal iv but both are good enough but if I got DC I'm not sure if I'd rather switch to the other iv so that she keeps more magical bulk so I'd rather at least keep the option open for now by not merging the last copy. I still need four more anyway before she'll reach max merges anyway.

I guess the big question with Fae is should I go for 5* first or giving her LB+ first? Because as of right now I do have the resources for her it's more a matter of feather cost being the hurdle. Also like Hector (for Fir) I've never summoned a Shiro so I don't have the luxury of trying to pass both SB and Aether from B!Ike.

I think her Light Breath is pretty good, especially if you don't have SB and QR on her right now because with this, you can go player phase Fae and start buffing your allies who will be engaging other things.
