Feather to Orb Conversion Ratio

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering how much people value orbs compared to feathers. Or, if there was a feature in the game that allowed you to convert feathers into orbs (or vise versa), what ratio would feel fair to you?
For me personally, it would probably be about a 500-1 conversion ratio, since I value 40 orbs about the same as the ability to unlock a units potential to 5 star. Maybe if I could actually pull a few 4 star Nowis and had something to spend my feathers on that number would be different.

Well, as of this moment, I value feathers more than orbs. I just for Sothe and Micaiah, so I'm pretty much good.

500 feathers for 1 orb? I mean... sure? I would never use it since there really is no fast way to collect feathers. You have Arena and Arena Assault (which takes like...5 days to finish?) and Hero Merit, and this is excluding the story maps.

Doesn't seem to be worth it in my opinion, but sure, I guess.

150-1, those 3 star ests better be worth something smfh (jk, maybe more like 300-1 or 400-1)

Honestly mine would be probably around 5,000. I think that is the 'fair' point where I wouldn't feel totally happy about it, but if I was an orb or two away from twenty I would go for it. As much as I DO still need feathers since I am swimming in Nino waiting to be five starred to get my main Nino to +10, that really isn't a top priority for me. Orbs are spent on potentially limited time units, or at least units that are only a focus for a short time, so Id rather bench unlocking potential until something IMPORTANT needs it in favor of more orbs.

5000 feathers per orb is just silly. Each 5* unit is sent home for 1000 feathers. Meaning it takes 5 5* to get 5000 feathers. Which at the luckiest costs a minimum of 15 orbs (assuming you get the 1 free summon at the start)

So to put it into perspective. At your luckiest possible ever situation of getting 5 5* for 15 orbs, you would willingly trade that equivalent in feathers for 1 orb. Meaning you trade 15 orbs for 1 orb. Seems a bit derpy to me.

And 20K feathers to upgrade a 4* to a 5* is just plain fucking absurd at this point, who has 20 5*s lying around they'd be willing to just give up?? At most make it 10,000, IS, that's kind of manageable

You get 100ish orbs per month outside of December. (Over 200 for December) You get ~105k feather at max per month and more reasonably ~90k. (You would naturally have to stay in tier 20 arena, +3000 rank in AA, complete at least 100k scores with TT, play each round of VG with all flags used with score multipliers, and complete all important feather quests, which means you can ignore daily AA quest from time to time but not much else.)

At a first glance, one may be goaded into thinking feather is harder to get -- especially when a player first starts, there is little feather income but a stash of orbs to get, even if the stash is one-time only.

But as you progress, you will eventually have enough feather to get enough merges to stay in Arena tier 20 and top 3k or top 1k AA. Once you have enough, you only need ~1 additional merge per month to keep up with the rest of the player base -- any excess feather goes to your other interests. Meanwhile, orbs are hard limited currency. For example, you can use 22k feather to get QR3 out of a 3* Subaki. But you have to have a Subaki to begin with. Another example. Distant Counter is locked to Hector and Hector only. You need in average 4.3/5% = 86 orbs per Hector even if you were playing and summoning during the hero fest banner. (4.3 orb is about the average price per summon for any color selective strategy.) Only a large quantity of summons can support a diverse and sizable fodder. (If your fodder is not large, some commonly needed skills are bound to be scarce.)

Thus 500-1 feather to orb valuation is unambiguously many times too lean. If you are really interested in such a comparison, the better starting point is the 20k feather mark for a 5* and subsequently compensating for various other factors.

As a parting gift, take the following advise. It seems you are relatively new to the FEH game and so you will definitely be thankful later. Do NOT ever inherit a skill unlockable at 4* in their lower forms. e.g. Hinata only should ever give Fury 3, similarly Lon'qu for Vantage 3 and Subaki for QR2 or QR3. On top of that, be cautious when you inherit QR2 away. Subaki is reasonably available but still not enough for you to give QR2 to every hero that you have and need QR3 as a temporary measure.
