F2P?

I bank a small 20 orb pack weekly. It's just that little reward I give myself throughout the week.

I'm not entirely F2P and will usually go a long time without spending money on the game. I'll do it when I have a little of extra money to spare, but not much since I'm really stingy.

I'm ftp, started around 2 weeks after release of the game. I'm in tier 20, currently have a a bunch of +1 merged 5* like camus, linde, xander, ursula, +4 Cecilia, +2 Masked marth. Summoning is really just RNG.
I have another ftp account with all of the Brave units and crimeans. Pure rng

In my opinion, quite a few who says they are f2p most likely aren't because I see them talking about their so called free pulls and the numbers just don't add up in the frequency and quantity of pulls. It is what it is.

I am not a f2p and no problem with it. To me it's no different than going to the movies. Where one decides to spend their disposable income, it's all good. That being said, pulling is all pure luck, but there is some gam management involved that's skill.

If you don't spend or have much orbs, I suggest waiting to pull on top heroes only. Do your planning on who you want ahead of time and wait for that banner. You probably don't want to merge multiple copies of 5 stars since you can better use them as SI elsewhere. Also like many says doing 4-10 merges with 5 star weapons and skills is super buff already.

I usually get very lucky on my pulls as I avg about 3.5 5 stars per 140 pull. There are at times terrible drops like when I went for brave lyn, but in general I got lucky. I have gotten 9, 7, 7, and a few 6s and 5s per 140.

I'd say it's quite a mix. You have a few people who are truely whales, some who spend some every month or every week, then you you have the people who spent absolutely nothing and truely F2P (This is just from my impression of course).

For me personally, I'm probably in the exact same boat as you, been playing since day one, getting all the F2P rewards and orbs and trying from there. Although I have spent about 40 or so bucks in total so far. But since I'm Australian, that money gets translated to about 0 orbs anyways :/

But, this whole game revolves around gambling and luck, everyone's experience of the game is different. I've personally gotten about 6 Effie's, 4 with +Atk, and the second one was +Atk / -Spd. This also goes for Reinhardt, I've gotten so many of him, he's my Vantage fodder now instead of Lon'qu.
However, on the other end of the spectrum, other than my blue units, I have a tonne of crappy IV'd units and I'm still missing around 70-80% of the 5 star exclusives.

Now, returning to your topic, from my personal perspective, I always give every option available when people ask about builds because I have no idea what their luck is like. For all I know, they could be purely F2P and get 7 Hectors or Brave Lyns, who knows?
And for myself, I also get plenty of fodders, and even sometimes willing to sacrifice my one single copy of a 5 star for the greater good, and more often than not, spend that 20K feathers promoting for skills because feathers are quite easy to come by.

But yeah, you have to remember sometimes, people come here to ask because they have trouble deciding, and more often than not it's because they have a very limited amount of resources. I'm pretty sure no one wants to throw Brave Ike's and Brave Lyn's around like they're worth nothing.

Hi! ? I am also just like you a f2p player! Hahahaha I just reroll my feh account on the first day of september thinking it would be a best way to start the game with all the best banners including the brave heroes. It is purely luck I guess. Cause I got my 5 5* on my start and now in this day I got a good 5* in my roster. The problem that I am facing is the supply of orbs that is why I am saving orbs so that I could diversify my team or inherit some skills as possible. Also training some units as possible so that I will merged them 'cause they are strong in their own right. Just enjoy the game. It will kill your happiness if you keep comparing your units to others. So I'm just going to leave this how it is right now.

Recently I've realized that, although I have had a lot of luck with all of my summons, I should focus on building 1 or 2 5* units and just merge every other non 5* unit I have.

I'm not F2P, but I don't spend anywhere near as much as the top players spend.
So if I want to keep up with them I should just focus on promoting one of my more common 4* units into a 5* and just keep merging that 1 unit.
And also merge units that summon as 3* and 4* only, you might be surprised by how many Cecilias, Corrins and Laslows you summon when you only summon one orb color. And don't forget that a 4*+10 unit is roughly as strong as a 5*+5 unit.

But for the majority of players, you only need to summon 1 5* version of a unit, and then just promote and merge more of that unit into itself using feathers.

I'm tottaly f2p, but got a lot of 5* like 4 hectors, and 3 of them were off banner, wasn't even trying.
This last banner for exemple i summoned 3 times (free, 5 orbs and +5 in another session) i got a neutral elincia in the first 5 orbs and a -hp +def nephenee after.
Spring banner i got in the same session 2 springs xander and a tharja 5*.
Pretty lucky huh ? But there was banners like reinhardt that i spend 100 of my free orb i got no 5*, at least i got 4* reinhard, but hero didnt even need to be in the bannerto get a 4*.
Spend a lot of orbs in ike's banner (first one and hero fest) and cyl, both trying to get a ike, guess what, no ikes for me.
This is just rng works, no secrets.

For the first six months the game was quite greedy as far as orbs and 5stars were concerned. I only pulled like 30 in six months, including the ones gained through TT and the ones I myself evolved with feathers.

For like two or three months now, the game has been spreading orbs, feathers and - as I feel - 5 stars (as free summons ; got four of them like that) more easily.

Now I'm at around 45 5 stars, and have been able to summon twice with 80+ orbs from the CYL banner. 80 again from the Beorc banner.
Now I'm back at 80 orbs. Without spending a penny.

I like grinding though, so every opportunity I get to gain free orbs, I do it.

My policy is to never spend a cent or penny on any games, I’ve been playing a lot of games lately and I realize that I’m just lucky. Especially for this game, on my free summons or when I only have 5 orbs left I always get lucky
Just a couple of minutes ago I pulled once and I got a second Elincia, got the first one on my free summon. I’ll let you see the heroes I’ve got so you can understand,
By the way my objective isn’t to get at least 1 of each 5* so merging them isn’t my problem right now, I’ll merge each one when I manage to get them all or just 2 of the same one by chance, now see for yourself

I'm f2p, seriously, I spent nothing in this game

I started by the time Alm and Celica's TT started, reason being this game doesn't exist in my region for some reason, and when the game first came out, I was waiting for it to come out in my region, but, after months, I got tired of waiting and just obtained it from backhand sources lol
Pulled a good IV Ike on my first summon on a random banner, I don't know how, he just appeared out of nowhere, then, I tried the summer banner after gaining some orbs, getting 5* Nowi, Summer Tiki and Gaius, in one session, again I don't know how

Anyway, though the game is really generous with orbs by now, I've reap most of the free orbs available and honestly I feel the same way as you
Though, as this isn't my first time playing gacha games, I think, I just know which banner I should invest on, just focusing in one banner instead of spending orbs in every banner available

By now, the only merged heroes I have are +1 Brave Lucina and Sonya, really, pulled them out of pure luck
I have yet to invest on all my usable 5*, that's why, I don't focus on merges yet, better to just spend those feathers on 5 starring fodders than merging, imo

I'm also f2p and there have been times where I'd save up ~100 orbs and not get any 5 stars and times when I free roll and get a 5 star. Overall I'm happy with the heroes I've been able to pull.

The only issue I've faced with f2p is assembling enough competent teams for Arena Assault and Squad Assault but I haven't had trouble with any other content and hover between tier 19 and 20 in arena.

Honestly I think if you're F2P (which I am) you shouldn't snipe. I think it's better to get more units and grind feathers than bank on getting 5*s unless you really want a focus unit... and I mean REALLY want. There are very few units that are 5* exclusive and worth sniping for (IMO) that you couldn't get a 4* for and promote. Feather farming has gotten a lot easier in recent months.

I started playing maybe two months before the first PoR banner was launched, and I restarted my game just to re-roll until I got a 5* Soren to start with. Since then with free orbs only pulling a full summoning round at a time, I've managed to pull at least one 5* unit per banner, sometimes more. I've got 26 5*s now, with five more that I've promoted and used as inheritance fodder.
