Ephraim: +hp -res vs +spd -def

I'm gonna merge them either way, but which should I sacrifice to do so?

I'd personally take the +Spd / -Def and merge into the +HP / -Res. His speed is below average anyways, and it wouldn't benefit to take away from one of his best stats for that. On the other hand, his resistance is disposable, and having more HP enhances his survivability.

I would have to completely disagree. I had this same decision to make with the exact two IV sets and found that the +Spd version is superior to the +hp version. Now with that being said that can change depending on the target build that you are going for (especially if you are using an HP based skill), but if you are running an A slot skill such as Fury 3 he can reach 32 spd and that alone makes a huge difference. It is true that he still isn't going to double many things however it also begins to prevent a large number of doubles as well. That can mean a world of difference especially with the -Def bane (which doesn't hurt as much as one might think). Here's an example of what my +Spd/-Def looks like. Ultimately the choice of which one you merge will come down to what build you are aiming for, but both IV's are very viable

Thought that Ephraim looked familiar. xD
I can see what you mean, though. I'm still probably going to give mine Fury 3 once I get another Hinata. I haven't exactly decided on a B skill yet, but I may draw inspiration from yours since I have a spare Fae. Like you said though, it comes down to the build / role you're aiming for him, and I think yours works nicely. It gives him a stronger offensive presence and grants him some survivability from his skirmishes.

That's a nice set, I might have to steal it! I was thinking about using Fury on him but I'm out of Hinata's and have around 5 other units that want it too (Brave Lucina, Brave Roy, Azura, Innes, and I was thinking about eventually getting around to investing in Anna for easy arena bonus). I think I'll opt to keep the +spd -def, but it'll be a bit before I can get Fury on him. I'm also super out of Fae's to go around so I'll probably put Swordbreaker on him until I can get Renewal. I have 4 Able's so Swordbreaker is probably my smartest temp B slot choice available to me.
