The End of Horse Emblem?

So after a few arena seasons, what do you guys think of the new tiles that slow down horse units? Did it truly hinder your or the enemies' horse units? Either way, It looks like Dragon Emblem is the cool, hip new thing.

I feel like I haven't seen that many of the new tile maps in the past 2 weeks; horse emblem appears to be back in full swing. Dragon Emblem and Armour Emblem seem more prevalent just due to higher scores with less merges however.

Horse emblem is something you typically see in AA rather than the arena. I stopped using horse emblem when I realized it actually hurts your score to use cavalry. I stick with a hybrid team for defense and mostly infantry for offense; Kagero is hardly ever used anymore, so infantry’s only real nerf is being restricted by environmental tiles like walls, trees, water, things like that.

Dragon emvblem is definitely the most consistent team now.

However, they still aren’t the #1 imo
Best offensive emblem is Flier Emblem
Best defensive emblem is Horse emblem

Dragon emblem is #2 in both accounts

PS. Maybe I should have clarified this. I meant arena defense on best defensive emblem. Not really best defensively in terms of actually tanking everything. If that is the case, I would say dragon emblem is better and the #1 defensive team.

BUT!
Flier emblem still retains #1 offensive team. Arena or not.

I was thinking the same thing. Armor teams are tough to beat, horse emblem is screwy but very easy to manipulate if Brave Lyn is not involved. Dragon teams are pretty easy to manipulate.

Yeah, I would actually say Horse Emblem is actually the most fragile, especially with Lyn & Rienhardt having poor defense. Definitely the most offensive though.

In terms of arena defense, Yes!

Having Julia/Deirdre or any of the raven tomes + TA doesn’t necessarily mean that horse emblem is not that good anymore. It just means you have the necessary counters for such teams.

The fact that it’s easier to separate dragons and armors so they’re easily picked off still makes them(imo) lower in rank than horse emblem defensively.

In more restrictive movement maps or maps with defensive tiles, Armor teams are a much bigger pain than horse teams. I can pick off horse teams one by one by placing a semi-tanky ranged fighter on a defensive tile in range of the horse units, and watch them all commit suicide in one turn while taking minimal damage. You can’t do that too well with armor teams. You could position it so that they are not on the tiles with you, but even then they are pretty strong. As for restricted movement maps, you can stack up a line ready to take down the horse units coming after you with ease. Armor teams can have that done too, but a single mistake wipes your team out in one turn whereas horse emblem may or may not kill one of your units. And unless you have a solid oneshot option, an armored unit getting damaged to where they are equipped with a charged bonfire/Ignis or black luna and vantage is a death sentence for the vast majority of units.

As I said, this is my opinion and not a universally considered fact.

I’m pretty sure people still consider horse emblem as the most annoying threat whenever they go and do arena. I don’t mind playing against any arena team to be honest. It usually only takes me one go to finish the whole 7-win streak.

Report

If in terms of points, yes!
Only dragons can compare to armors.

I’m basing my opinion on which emblem is the best at winning a specific map(offensively) that includes ghb/bhb etc.

Or getting the most defensive wins(horse emblem) in arena.

Not on who gets most points and having arena defensive tiles to be able to help tank everything better.

I don't know about this. I tried the cancer defense team of Reinhardt, B!Lyn, and double dancer and got 0 wins over the course of several days. When I run my armor trio of Effie, H!Henry, and Zelgius plus bonus I get dozens of wins daily.

With that said, I don't care enough for cavalry to have much in the way of merges so that may be it. I think ranged cavalry is only tough on certain maps and with dancers. Specifically the lava maps where you can neither bait nor engage reliably because of chokes, while they can attack from several spots.

You do have a point.
Weekly map rotations in arena definitely play a part in this.
I think at lower range of advanced arena without merges of certain horses. You’re teams “might” get matched against certain units like deirdre or julia more and etc. However, if your team consists of higher merges. It might get matched up against armor teams who have lower chance of evading certain horses.

I would say armor emblem certainly has annoying maps as well which would be the ones with forests. That allows them to slightly move faster which then blocks your team’s movements even more.

Personally, I think they've hindered the horse emblem teams pretty well, but the maps don't appear often enough for it to put as much of a dent in horse emblem's power as I'd like. But then again, it'd be pretty unfair if more than half of the maps were bad for horses... I think they should have handled the horse nerf differently. I couldn't tell you how, but I just think it was done poorly. I know that sounds hypocritical.
