Eliwood build suggestion

Hello, everyone.

I am currently deciding my future Horse Emblem and I want my Eliwood to be its "leader". He was the first unit I promoted to 5 stars back at the start of the game when I didn't even know his IVs (I didn't even know there were IVs in the game yet).

He turned out to be -Res +Spd, which is quite good, so between that and the fact that he is the protagonist of the first FE I played, I want to make special use of him. He gives good results with his default skills so I want to improve his performance even further.

I have both Death Blow 3 and Darting Blow 3 "widely" available, I even have a spare Hector, but giving him Distant Counter when I also want to promote Zephiel seems like a bit too much, but I would be open to the idea. I can give him Swordbreaker 2 and Quick Riposte 2 among other things.

For the record, the rest of the team would be Cecilia with her tome and Triangle Adept, Camus (when he comes out) and Reinhardt.

Yep that team seems perfectly fine. I see Rein and Cecilia and that's really all the core you need. I would save death blow for Rein, but death blow for Eliwood does combo well with Durandal, (you were probably already thinking that). The only reason I would consider giving Eliwood Distant Counter is because Xander already has that broken ability built into his weapon, and he is a favorite among horse emblem teams and we already know how strong Distant Counter + QR/Vantage is.

I have 3 4* Kleins, so I can give Death Blow 3 to both of them. I have no interest in using Xander because I skipped Fates and he doesn't really appeal to me, although I don't doubt he's good. And yes, Death Blow 3 would be there to also stack with Durandal's effect.

Since you have +speed IVs, your sitting at 33 speed. Darting blow puts him at 39 which is suitable enough for desperation (covers his low defense). On a horse team it will likely be bosted +6, bringing him to 45 speed when initiating. With death blow 2 being built in, and having 3 movement, he is already asking to a unit that initiates combat. Thats what i want to do with him anyways, though I wasnt lucky enough to get + spd yet.
