Eldigan build question amidst the salt.
I know it kinda seemed out of context, but yeah this is what Q&As are supposed to be rite
A +Def -Res Eldigan, what would work best? I'm thinking of inheriting Close Def and Vantage when Joshua comes out for the second time, but I'm having doubts. Whaddya guys think?
Regarding the salt about the new Lucina, Yes. I personally feel bothered by the fact that Intsys is kinda biased on this whole "new hero" thing, but I don't see a reason why you would flame the community for the hate. Let's be rational. Some people like it, others don't. We argue. We rant. We express our opinions on the net. But it doesn't mean you rage over the internet to those who doesn't like what the devs are doing. Everyone has their own opinion, and let's just keep in mind that Intsys knows what they're doing, and they're keeping track of us. I've been a longtime FE series fan, and FEH feels like a conglomeration on all the games I wanted to see. I want to see older units, too (Especially Seth why did they make him so weak in this game argh), but let's just express all the opinion that we have in a clean way. Keep the community peaceful, bros. We have a lot of people with different ways of thinking. If we want intsys to look upon this matter, just remember the Ayra incident. We'll go Reinhardt over and over again, just in a different way. Because sometimes, these kind of problems makes us a community that unites for a common reason. Just remember to respect every other opinion that all the people here have.
Seriously tho, I need that Eldigan build to complete my cavalry team lol.

Yea i kinda considered brazen. Stats are pretty solid but I think I might have to go with Mysteltainn (+Eff) over its dark counterpart.
I want Ares but all I have is one 4* and he's -atk +res (random gacha pulls, what do you expect lol)
I prefer Ares but the way Eldigan says "by Mysteltainn" upon special proc instantly broke my virginity.

Vantage would only make sense if you used the dark demon sword as well, because it's really weak with the regular one.
Close defense should be fine, but if you don't want to invest in him too much, you can always keep fury or give him fortress def for even more defense and accompany that by QR + Ignis.
The good thing about stacking defense on Eldigan is the fact that he almost always gets doubled, so you need def to survive, but getting doubled also means that he can easily proc that 3 turn special in a single round of combat when his quick riposte is active and more defense = more Ignis dmg, so that's a win-win situation there. With a defense increasing sacred seal, you can easily get above 45 def without further buffs, which means 36+ dmg Ignis procs. That's also excluding a possible weapon refine.
Tl;dr: the two skills that are must-have on Eldigan are quick riposte and Ignis.

You have a point there. I'm actually the type that's willing to invest with every single 5* that I have, so I don't really mind. Fortress def is viable, but I don't really want to reduce his atk too much.
And fury is, well... I got too much of them lol so I just wanted a variant for personal reasons. Thanks for your opinion, though. Was very helpful.

A lot of salt, I'm more annoyed by the fans than IS
This is nothing new, calm your Falchions.
As for the more interesting bit;
I like to go with fury Mystletainn over Dark Mystletainn.
Leave Ares to handle dishing out specials, Eldigan should focus on being a moble tank.
I'm using brazen atk/def now on my Eldigan (+hp/-res), his neat hp allows him to savely tank hits even at <75%.
Of course quick reposte is a must.
Take a hit > quick reposte > fight with boosted atk/def after that.
Close defence might be better though, running it on both A and seal should allow him to deal with anything melee. Even red or green dragons can be fought if Eldy can use bonfire/ignis on them.

tbh my opinion was also directed to the fans lol. I usually never rant about these things, but it's kinda bothering me since the Q&A section becomes rowdy for once. I've been in the ayra train too so yea i know.
Both of the Mysteltainns are really suited for someone as eldy. Just different in functions. Fury makes him much more of an all-rounder, while Dark Mysteltainn is for a much offensive Eldy. Mine's a +Def, so I'm thinking of the Fury eff, but I'm also really attracted at the prospect of dealing WW2 level ignis nukes. I'm currently currently thinking with either fury mysteltainn + bonfire + brazen atk/def / close def 3, or ignis + dark mysteltainn + fury on a slot.
I kinda want to make him a mobile tank since I already have Siegbert that deals Soviet-level dark greatsword+db desperation damage, but yeah. Thanks for your reply, bruh. Really appreciate it.

Not saying that Eldy can't use dark mystletainn, just that Ares with his higher atk can use it better, and he's 4*.
Also a bit of a dew waste (stuff is worth more than orbs or feathers)
Fury is just great on eldigan, not just because of the atk/def boost, but with his hp he can take hits from dragons that don't double him. And his speed is still low at 27, but with a buff he can reach 33. Just high enough to avoid some doubles.
Eldy is fun, but it's one of those units that needs an emblem team. He just likes the raw stats too much.

Agreed. Eldy's bulk is actually respectable enough to become a cavalry bruiser. Fury makes him more tanky and he could even tank a hit from dragons barring the blue ones and refinement. And even those exceptions aren't guaranteed since his hp is quite on the high spectrum. If mine was a +atk, a dark mysteltainn would work well, but his stats require him to rely on buffs and special procs to secure a guaranteed ko. I'm probably gonna use him in a cavalry team lmao, especially since I got some cavalries outside my main cavalry team that demands me to be built lol.

How about heavyblade, Mystiltein Eff, vantage, hone cav buff, BONFIRE and close def?
If you don't use Ares you MUST use the dark Mystiltein bc is soooo good omg
Maybe just kill that poor Ares for the brazen and give it to Eldigan
I actually like Ares more just bc I can merge him easly, mine is at +2 right now tho
Eldigan barely appears in banners :(

"By mysteltain this shit UwU"
lol that's a good and effective build, actually. But I think his neutral 48 wont really proc HB well outside cavalry teams...and even with a hone cav, it's really not dependable inside a meta filled with sword powercreeps that has enough attack to kill you even without doubling (Ayra & Karla i'm looking at you girls).
And yeah I actually preferred Ares on the offensive side. I remember that one time in the arena when my Tana with vidofnir+fortress def+close def S got OHKOed by an Ares carrying d.mysteltainn + quickened pulse which literally procs blazing wind with a 1 turn charge and blowing all of those def stats to smithereens lol, I wanted to build Ares ever since that time.
And yes my eldy was a pitybreaker at 4.75% and still no S! tiki in sight.

I had the same Eldigan pitybreak me when going for either S! Y! Tiki or YT! Olivia (can't remember which).
I haven't gotten around to building him, but he'll be a pretty good physical wall when his time comes (not for a while though).
I was thinking Dark Mystletainn, Bonfire, Close Defense (Fury would suffice), Quick Riposte.

Ok, we're on the same pitybreaker for S! Y! Tiki boat lol
Yeah, I think that after all of the help and replies, I'm going for close def QR, and the remaining question is whether I'm choosing dark mysteltainn or mysteltainn (+eff). Or maybe I just can build both of them and see what happens lmao
