Dupe whale units
What do you guys do with the extra units you find after completing your whale?
I'm starting to finish my 5+10 fae since I stupidly spent some orbs I was collecting on the 4 star banner and was rewarded with some faes (she's at +9 neutral for now, waiting for a +def/-hp one, or just +def).
Seeing a leftover fae in the barracks I thought "what will your destiny be now?" and started thinking about future faes with no way of being merged.
So the question about the leftovers.
Do you guys keep those units at 4 star waiting for a (im)possible new limit for merges, start to build a 4+10 just for fun, kill them for skills because they served their role, send them home, or maybe just keep them Forever because they're your fav?

Depends on the unit.
If they have viable skills, they make for good fodder, but at a certain point skills have to be prioritized, as well as rarity level you get them at.
A perfect example: I max merged a Cecilia a while back. Perfect IVs, perfect across the board. I still regularly get her. She has escape route 3 and rally resistance, so what I do is I keep at the max 2 copies at 4*, send home any 3* extras, and if I get a third 4* copy, I either plan to inherit escape route or rally resistance on a unit I may want to drop a dual rally on down the road or send the third home.
However, there are units that literally give 0 value after you max merge them. Take Corrin M for example. His SI offerings are dragon fang, defense+3, and obstruct 3, all of which are available at 4* on other common units, and the passive are trash compared to other skills in the A and B slots that are easily attainable. If I ever max merge Corrin M, I will send home EVERY copy I get for him after that at 5*, and maybe keep a copy or two around for dragon fang fodder at 4*. Same case would occur with Julia (but not anytime soon because I only have a +1 Julia). They both would have no value to me outside of that.

Personally, 4*+10 units should only be limited to cases where you meet the following criteria:
1. You don't need the 5* version to unlock the final native weapon (non-legendary and/or swapping out weapons)
2. All core skills (including the weapon) are obtainable via inheritance
3. You don't see yourself committing to a 5*+10 anytime soon
4. The unit itself is not an S-tier unit (i.e. pretty much all dragons)
5. The unit offers little to no valuable skill for inheriting
The units that I recommending 4*+10 are, with my inherited weapon of choice: Cherche (Brave Axe+), Olivia (Armorsmasher+), Frederick (Brave Axe+), Cecilia (Gronnblade+), L'Arachel (Blarblade+), Gwendolyn (Slaying Spear+), Draug (Armorsmasher+), Sheena (Slaying Hammer+), Hawkeye (Slaying Hammer+), Chrom (Brave Sword+), Soleil (Armorsmasher+), Est (Slaying Spear+), Bartre (Slaying Hammer+)
The main value of 4*+10 units are for specific arena assault counters - around high arena tiers you literally only fight against armour and dragon emblem, hence having a reserve of anti-armour weapon is extremely valuable. Honourable mentions for Bartre, Frederick, Cherche, who have Hammer as their native weapons - they are extremely f2p friendly and you don't necessarily have to upgrade their weapons to the 5* version by virtue of their colossal atk stat.
