Don’t sleep on Titania

Listen I know the gem prf and it’s refine will seem underwhelming at first but it’s usable. Her utility on mixed teams is something I never thought she would do so well thanks to this refine. Pls give it a chance if you have the dew.

Define better Refines? What a player finds good and what another finds trash is a matter of opinion and play style. This is great for those that like having a really good support unit, as such this is actually very good for that playstyle.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Having an anti mage that can checkmate blue mages (and dragons might I add, high res) along with triple tactic isn't underwhelming, it's actually very good. She's just not a goddess of offense or defense. She's support.

Report

She can checkmate not just blue mages and dragons, but red and green mages and dragons with a Slaying Axe, Iceberg, DC, QR, Guard build. Why would I ever want to limit her to just checking blue magic-based units so I can fit one extra Tactics skill on her when she's going to want her own Res stat buffed anyway to begin with?

This is the thing that annoys me here: some are saying people who think her refine is bad are ignoring what it can do when they themselves are ignoring what some have already done with Titania. This refine only serves to make a niche unit even more niche. Eirika, Ephraim, Marth, and M. Corrin are all far better support units.

Report

They've been pushing the Mixed Emblem team type for a while now, hence Tactic skills. Hell, even L!Hector has Ostia's Pulse, which is a Mixed Emblem skill, so it's not shocking that they made the refine a Tactic refine, allowing her to buff Mixed Emblem teams with a +6 visible buff (buffing Bladetome units better than M!Corrin, by the way).

Eirika gives a +4 attack buff with her weapon when standing next to someone once the turn begins, same with Ephraim, and Marth's refine is an invisible buff.

So you can't really compare their support roles to Titania considering she provides Visible buffs and they provide invisible buffs. (or the buff provided have different requirements). o_o'

Report

Marth, Camilla, Corrin etc. give you extra team buffs you wouldn't have had otherwise, and the weapons have other effects that are also good. Titania's just moves your res tactic into a weapon slot. With 4 c-slots and 4 seal slots there's plenty of room to fit the tactics in. I don't understand why people are saying putting 3 tactics on one unit is good. What's the point? Titania uses res, she'd much rather someone else buffed her with the res tactic than use it herself.
I really don't see why you'd ever want to spend 200 dew on Draconic Poleaxe when you could give her a Slaying Axe or Hammer or basically any weapon that actually helps her do things.

Report

Like stated above, she's a support unit for a Mixed Emblem team. She's the only unit in the game (that I can recall) that can buff someone in this manner, freeing up the C slots of her allies. She's meant to mostly check blue units (and some green units) hence the albeit awful Gem effect on her prf weapon.

She can check blue units fine, like she's supposed to when using her prf weapon, and she can buff units fine, like she's supposed to when using her prf weapon's refine effect.

If the refine was on another weapon (AKA Not a gem weapon) then I might spend the 200 Divine Dew on it. The refine is actually really good, especially for my style of play (I gravitate more towards either infantry or Mixed Emblem teams).

Again, she's supposed to be a support unit. Slaying Axe, and other axe weapons, are for offensive purposes. As much as I dislike her prf weapon's base effect, she DOES have a use that you're trying to overshadow, lol.

Edit: Now that I think about it, the only other "support" axe in existence is, what, Ardent Service? Her Draconic Poleax should be compared to that, if anything, lol.

Report

Here is the thing though that I think you're missing that I and others are driving at, and you even mentioned it:

"If the refine was on another weapon (AKA Not a gem weapon) then I might spend the 200 Divine Dew on it."

That's what we're all saying: gem weapons are bad. Gem weapons are a net negative for high tier arena play. Having to trade the slew of good axe options out there for a weapon that makes her incredibly limited in combat to save a C slot when ideally you want Titania receiving res buffs anyway is not a good trade unless you're looking for a pricey AA counter unit. And in that case, why not just slap Triangle Adept 3 on another axe unit?

Report

Oh, no I understand. I've been saying the exact same thing since I learned what her prf weapon was. The refined effect I don't have a problem with, but her base effect is absolute trash (I even said the same thing lower down in this post, lol).

With that said, however, her prf weapon gives her the role of "support" which can not be easily filled by other axe weapons (only other axe weapon that gives supportive roles is Ardent Service.... oh, and Hagoita? There's also Uror, but that's a whole different matter).

Report

I'm not trying to overshadow it, it's just overshadowed because it's terrible. It does not make her a good support unit. Any other support unit is better. Any unit can run tactics. Freeing up 1 C-slot is not worth making her so much worse at actually fighting. Especially when it's res tactic which she wants to recieve instead of give.

Edit: Sure, compare it to Ardent Service. It works on any team comp, it works on the unit using the weapon, it gives her additional stats instead of the gem effect. Ardent Service would be better for a support Titania than Draconic Poleaxe. There's also Hagoita which is also better. But really none of them are great options for her.

Report

I'm not saying that her base effect is good, I'm saying that her refined effect is good. She can run triple Tactics, buffing Bladetome units better than most units in the game. Anyone can run Tactics, yes, and so can she, on her weapon, C slot AND seal slot.

Again, they've been pushing Mixed Emblem teams for a long time now, so it's not surprising they made a Tactic refine, so when you compare Ardent Service (why would you even use Ardent Service on a Horse Emblem team anyway when Hone Cavalry exists?) to Titania's Res Tactic refine, then, in my opinion, her refine comes out on top.

Again, I'm not saying the BASE effect makes her good, I'm saying the refined lets her take on the role of support.

Report

I know. And I'm saying that the base weapon is bad and the refine is also bad. There is no advantage to putting 3 tactics on 1 unit. Titania wants to receive res buffs not give them. Even if it had a different base effect and I was using it on a tactics team I'd still rather refine it for stats and have someone else run res tactic.
It is a really bad weapon in every way.

Report

You're saying it's just me but you still haven't explained why anyone would want to give her 3 tactics.
Just because YOU want to give her 3 tactics for some reason it means it's a good refine? Mhmm.

Report

I've already explained, lol. In a MIXED Emblem team, she has the ability to buff a Bladetome unit (or any unit for that matter) with +6 to resistance as well as two other stats (excluding Spd Tactic since it's locked behind L!Lyn).

So that's +6 to attack, defense, and resistance. All from one unit. Not only that, but because it's coming from one unit, her allies can run different C slots, like Drive's, Hone's, Ploy's, Threaten's, etc.

There are plenty of situations where a Res-Tactic weapon can come in handy. I don't like her base weapon effect, but to sit here and say that the effect is completely worthless is an extremely "off-base" thing to say in my opinion.

Report

Yes but a mixed emblem team has 4 members why does one need to do all the buffing? It serves no purpose apart from "freeing up a C-slot". Guess what, literally every skill refine on a weapon is basically a free skill slot and most of them are better.

And the multiple times I've brought it up you haven't answered at all that Titania uses res. Another unit who doesn't need res could buff both the bladetome and Titania with res tactic. Tactic refine isn't great but it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't give her the worst tactic for her to actually use.

Report

Because it does exactly that - it frees up a C slot. While the C slot is flexible, they can provide great help to units with things like buffing allies or debuffing enemies. While she doesn't HAVE to be the only one to run the Tactic skills, she CAN run the Tactic skills.

Yes, I've seen you bringing that up, but I really don't know what you want me to say to that. Her resistance could use a buff (which one of her allies could have to help her...) but I'd much rather go for defense considering her defense stat is not that high (and I'm not giving a melee unit a bane in defense...)

I'm not saying that it's the greatest refine out there, but, again, to say that it's completely worthless is an extreme exaggeration. Bladetome mages are still some of the most powerful units in the game, and Titania, by herself, can buff 3 of a Bladetome unit's stats thanks to her refine.

Useless? Definitely not the first word to come to mind.

Report

Exactly. I think players are way overestimating the value of saving one C slot (which btw is the easiest one to give up) when it means taking a very limiting weapon that has little value outside of Arena Assault counter-picking. On top of it, it's Res Tactics, one of the easiest to come by Tactics skills currently. Even though you need a 5* L'arachel, 20,000 feathers is a lot easier to come by than 200 Dew.

Report

Agreed. I myself planed on merging her prior to the refine for mage checking and hone buffs for my bladetomes. Guess she's going to be doing much more XD

Report

It's not that it's bad. Her refine is amazing, allowing her to buff Mixed Emblem teams almost better, if not arguably better, than 98% of the entire FEH cast. The refine isn't what people have a problem about.

It's the weapon effect.

Sure, she can completely spank every blue unit in existence, and giving her Distant Counter will have her tie down every blue mage that looks at her funny, but... seriously. They copied and pasted a gem effect for someone's prf weapon, that's my problem with Titania's new weapon. They didn't even, at the least, change the values on said gem effect. They left them exactly the same.

Report

Divine Dew is a limited resource players want to use only on their most treasured and gifted heroes. Res tactics and Weapon Triangle Advantage built into her preferred weapon was just pure laziness. Such a wasted opportunity in my opinion.

Report

Hypothesis: It’s garbage.

The base weapon sucks. Having a 16 mt weapon with Triangle Adept isn’t legendary at all.... And Res Tactic is kinda bad since Res isn’t exactly the most worthwhile stat... I feel like putting Spd Tactic or Atk Tactic would have been better.

Report

I don't find a gem weapon especially legendary either, but res being unimportant with all these dragons running around and mages...existing? How many people have headaches over Reinhardt!

Honestly even though the gem weapon refine is garbage having a tactics caddy that can use reposition and has a free b slot for a chill skill is fine considering I will never use her in combat anyways. The last two weeks I have stayed in tier 20 with zero armor merges using basically a +10 soliel with armorbreaker. this last week she killed 18/20 units alone with careful positioning and tactics ( incl. some effies and a hardin). being able to free a c on more useful unit is slightly more relevant to me than having to put it on a unit that actually does heavy lifting in my case. While I agree wholeheartedly she could have had a refine that actually made her competent in combat, I would rather have pure support than garbage that keeps her in limbo. At least she can wall nowi.

Report

Aside from further cementing her status as a blue killer and gaining traction for mixed team usage, her weapon and refine are underwhelming. She will be an AA reinforcement for me, nothing more.

Report

But were any top-tier arena players actually considering a horse cav on their main team to begin with? To me, Titania was always going to be a unit that would be used for arena assault, and with the way arena assault rewards using properly blessed teams, I have gone the route of creating premade teams to counter the meta.

Titania's new refine will add tremendous value to one of those teams, buffing her allies to deal with reds and greens, while she completely negates blues. I use gem weapons all the time in arena assault (along with breakers). You don't need to worry about bst bins or the highest scoring skills...you can actually create teams that compliment each other!

Report

In normal arena play, she would have been a strong option for a bonus unit if her refinement allowed for more versatility. With her refinement making her become target practice for reds, it severely hinders that opportunity. Score is king.

For AA, she is among the many options I employ, depending on the season.
