"Don't expect the world from it", Sir of Coffee Said

So, how does it feel now that IS has given us the world?

It's a pretty good update, [deleted, Eir is probably a dagger]. I didn't catch all the deets (color, mainly) as to Tibarn, but he had a pretty crazy movement.

I think there's some neat stuff to look forward to, but I wouldn't call it "the world". They didn't announce any new demotions, for example.

I'm not sure what trailer you watched:

No skill refinery
No summoning pool restructuring
No new game modes or new content
Added seasons (an already terrible game mechanic) to Aether Raids when nobody wanted this

I don't see what we got other than beast units.

The summoning pool can be edited over the course of regular updates, no need to do it or announce it with new Book updates.

True, my Battle Class system (skill refinery/"class skill" system) and Campaign Mode/Save Mode would be excellent additions, I wouldn't be mad if IS stole them.

The Laguz addition I think is a big deal (especially if the movement/transformation system effectively means another layer upon the simple movement path and assist/attack target system), and, if you look at the game modes they have added, GHB and Aether Raids, they are adding the right stuff (scale, interaction with friends' barracks, personalization). Really I think they're doing a good job with the game, but I completely reverse this opinion whenever they release alts of characters with 3+ total variants already.

(I do think they're very slow at adding characters, which is partially what makes me angry when they released redundant alts. I could add 40 characters with unique traits or new skills to the game without throwing the balance out of wack.)

They DID say that the video was going to be about Book 3 specifically, so the focus was obviously on its related content.
Regarding your points:
-Skill refinery was pure speculation and therefore something people got their hopes up for
- The last Summoning pool demotion to happen was a few months after the 2.0 update happened. Doesn't mean its absence from the video indicates that it won't happen again
- New game modes have been added in smaller updates before (Aether Raids for example)
- Seasons could be implemented better, but it's that terrible a system, nor is it as detrimental as people think

I like your points.

I'll just say that I came up with my Battle Class system a loooong time ago independent of speculation, and my original intent was not about updating skills (like Defiant into Brazen with SI'ing units) or copying weapon refinery. It was rather to create simulacrums of the unit classes in the regular Fire Emblem games, so that there would be "wyvern knights", "great knights", etc.

It was not just a book 3 update though. It was also version 3.0. Go back and watch the book 2/version 2.0 trailer and watch the sheer amount of new things that were introduced in comparison to this trailer that affected the actual game, not just summoning.

The summoning pool issues didn't happen as quickly last time as they did in the past year because of IS having too many new banners and new banners without demotes. In addition, the first summoning pool restructuring never fixed the issue with old 5 star units that didn't belong.

Sill refinery of course was speculation, but it's an example of something the game badly needed. The only bone IS was willing to throw people in this regard was a few extra free summons per banner, which for all we know they may even take out of our orb distribution count. Each one of those is a 2.5-3% chance of a 5*. When we've had 2 total demotes since August, this doesn't help that much and the 4*s you're likely to pick up don't have much for fodder, this doesn't help.

Beast units weren't introduced. They were promised in two months. They didn't even have them ready for 3.0.

The player base needs to have higher expectations for IS than to keep kicking the can down the road.

I would not say this is the world.

But it was neat.
Beast units and what little we saw from their mechanics seems nice.
And book 3 looks better that 2.

So a win, but not an overwhelming one.
