Distant Counter for the Polite Knight

I have a grade A Frederick and I was wondering if it would a good idea to give Frederick distant counter to deal a majority of blue mages. I always notice that when blue mages attack Frederick it usually takes two shot's to bring him down. If he had distant counter couldn't he stop most blue mages from pulling a follow up and K.O. them? (With the exception of Reinhardt and Olwen...) Also,don't have a Hector yet, just wanted to prepare for that time.
