Did they really try this or am i hallucinating?

I just did Grand Conquests then I realize that when I got my rewards at first at tier 2 you get 3 orbs instead of the natural 2 orbs then as i checked the tier rewards i realized that they change the 2 orbs per 2 tiers rules. Am i remembering something wrong cause i know we get 2 orbs instead 1 orb or did they announce this or something?
